Failed Cat C test today

Hi,

New member, Dave, from Lancashire.
I am learning to drive class 2 then class 1, on an apprenticeship scheme from work. I’ve got driving and reversing the class 2 down now, but failed my test due to not making progress. Fair enough, my bad, pay more attention to road speed changes and put my foot down next time.

Well, next time was today. 5 driver faults (none for making progress) and 1 dangerous. Gutted.
At a roundabout, I stopped for the traffic coming from ahead, all of them turned off at the road I was coming out of, then I set off, and as I crossed the line onto the roundabout I noticed a scooter come out from the right behind my mirror. I stopped, but as I was already passed the line, I got a dangerous.

Now I’m worried that if I fail the next test, there’s a chance I may be off the apprenticeship course. Any tips to help me ease my nerves for my third test?

Never let the [zb]s grind you down! I went in with the attitude that I was going to pass even it took me 10 attempts! If you want it keep doing it and it’ll all fall into place with examiner/luck/traffic

The best advice I can give is also the simplest. RELAX! Your company obviously sees something in you if they’re willing to put you through all this training, and they won’t expect everyone to pass first time.
Just get your test rebooked get as much training in as you need, and just go for it.
Remember on a test they aren’t looking for perfection, just a safe and comfortable drive.

Cheers guys

Done module 4 today, so at least initial cpc is out of the way, just waiting on retest date or cancellation. Didn’t have any minor faults carry over from first to second test, so I’m guessing that’s also a good sign

You’ll ■■■■ it next time fella :stuck_out_tongue: I got 1 minor and 1 major in my first test. Gutted to say the least. Went back and smashed it with 2 minors second time. Different guy, less traffic, better route. Keep going :stuck_out_tongue:

Don’t let it get to you. Sounds like your having the same problems I did. My main problem was nerves. I wish I could tell you how I over came them.

Got my retest date, 18th October. I feel a bit better about it, as bad as it sounds, because one of the others on the course from my work also failed his, and I thought he was a good driver. So I know it’ll just be test day nerves. On my cpc mod 4 course, the examiner told me to have chewing gum once I’ve done the reverse, as it helps calm his trainees. I’ll give it a try, but not overthink it. Can’t wait

Try KALMS

Pleased to say I passed my class 2 today, with two minors. One for indicating on a roundabout that I didn’t need to, and the other for taking a right followed by another right, but going into the wrong lane for a few seconds in between. Happy days

Wait for my licence tyo come back then can get on to class 1 training
