Apparently Mercedes-Benz, M.A.N., Scania (earth rival as also Dutch-facilities) were excluded in
the survey and close operators (Kwinten and Reijnders) were expected to present their foreigns
Very very rare…a Seddon-Van Twist (after Kemper & Van Twist from Dordrecht) and now with
a cab/body from Medema from Appingedam! It’s 1951 gents
Nice input Michel! Impressive looks as well
Panhard was imported in Holland by H. Englebert from The Hague and to
be honest I have no idea on the cab-builder nor the trailer-manufacturer.
Others may know more…
The Panhard was from operator Hooymeijer from Vlaardingen near Rotterdam and herewith
a picture of the same tractor ‘chasing’ another tractor of that fleet.
Nice shots A-J! The trailer is a DAF, the small goose-necks shows…
Ten Cate from Almelo (near Enschede and Dutch-German-border) also made lorries, though limited
as cost of production was high and later their interest in tankers approved to be more profitable.
Approx 150 lorries were made…most with KHD-engines and for regional operators.
Also Roefs from Middelbeers should be added to the Dutch list.
Middelbeers is located in the region of Tilburg.
Though young as company (1980) they even restored several lorries
as per attachment.
Another ‘new’ one, as found incidentally in Beroepsvervoer (1963):
Cab by v.d. Kraan of Vlaardingen (ordered by Stokvis, importer of Austin)
Best regards,

A 1937 Diamond T cabbed by Van Dijk from Lunteren for transportcompany E.J. van Dijk (family?) from Utrecht
The majority of visitors will recognize Ten Cate as a known builder of all kinds of products related
to tanks for liquid bulk
Out of a 1965 leaflet, by the way for sale, 4 pages, Dutch language
Some other examples…
A Reo Speed Wagon from 1934 with a trailer from Werkspoor as well as a Mercedes-Benz with body by BUCA
Jumbo from Helmond (founded by the family Van Der Meulen) did made trailers and later on
also some lorries under that same name. Here a nice picture in front of the factory in Helmond
which is 20miles East from Eindhoven.
ERF-Continental:
Ten Cate did also manufacturer front-cabbed lorries as per attachment with promotional panel
Seeing this reminded me of all the ‘chassis only’ trucks that were driven direct from Leyland (and probably other manufacturers too) to bodybuilders in the late sixties/early seventies. The seats were a makeshift affair and the drivers were wrapped up like ‘Mr.Toad’ with big coats, leather caps and goggles. Can’t have been much fun on a wet day!

Just found an early 1980 specification-sheet from Van Eck with quite some revolutionary examples
to handle several kinds of goods in an economic way…however…not easy to drive the Steinwinter?
A rare Büssing with its cab made by Paul & van Weelde for van den Bos, later also known as CargoBoss from
Naaldwijk. Also the body was made by Paul & van Weelde and we speak of 1952
