I’ve had more response by emailing companies direct. Don’t simply send an cv, just enquire about driving vacancies. If you don’t get a reply get on the phone or hand pick a few and go straight to their front door. The job centre website is rubbish, I’ve applied for loads but never heard anything, that’s with a CV too. Another thing which pees me off is when they send you “alerts” for similar jobs, which arn’t similar at all.
Best way of getting a job is to knock on some doors , cruise around some haulage yards on a Saturday morning and put your face about, its about being in the right place at the right time , be flexible. 
Well I’ve had plenty jobs off direct gov including my current cushy number and my last job. You have to check it 4 or 5 times a day as jobs appear, employer gets 1000 calls in half hour so quickly takes advert off.
