Ok driving a truck aint rocket science, and yeh maybe a lot of us could have done better in life, but to put a man down for doing a job in a lesser category of status and kudos than whatever line you are in, aint an attractive aspect of someone’s character mate.Not jumping in here just to stick up for Juddian btw, as I’m absolutely sure he is well capable of doing that himself.

Listen I certainly do not come on here for sympathy but when I post anything about autonomous vehicles (which will and does include trucks) and I do drive trucks remember I get…read above…from Julian. Now that is what he believes and that is his perogitive but saying it is some pie in the sky ■■■■■■■■ that is not going to happen is complete and utter nonsense.
I am not trying to trivialise any lorry driver because that is basically my job and has been for many years and I never ever have looked down my nose at anyone.Probably exactly the opposite most of the time especially with some of the people I work with now.

What I will say you come on here for is a reaction, you certainly get it but maybe not the type you want.

There are many neurotic truckers who worry about everything, do as they are told to the letter, and panic.
The better ones are more layed back and don’t give a ■■■■, especially about future tech which in most cases will only come in when they are well out of the job.
I aint no scientist, (as you attempt to put across that you are in an ambiguous way) but I’d bet a weeks wages that all this stuff is at least 20+ yrs away before it is in FULL swing, so I’m a bit like Vicki Pollard …face? bothered?.
As are most on here, but you interpret that as idiocy for some bizzare reason, I would say it’s more being in touch with reality and keeping your feet on the ground…

Okay rob I get it now, posters are allowed to insult me but I am not allowed to respond. We all have our own perception of the way we see things and your perception of what I am trying to say by my posts is not quite correct. No problem though because my perception of what some say on here is probably not correct either.
I will say your post comes across far better than Julians because you do talk sense where as he just agrees with the “it will never happen brigade” He is not interested in the future the same as a lot on here are not and that is fair enough too if that’s the way they want to live their lives.
You are probably almost correct with your estimated time of full autonomy however nobody actually knows exact years but it’s certainly progressing very quickly and costing billions so I doubt it will fail.
I certainly do not mean to frighten or worry anyone on here or anyone else. I just kind of feel sorry for the non believers as they will be the ones that will get the biggest shock.
