The Graveyard

Remember when going scotch (if from the south), or going down to the smoke ( if from the north), was long distance,
when middle east work was readily available?.
When a 111 or F89 meant you were truly the king of the road
Recall those companies long gone, where every day was an adventure?
What ever happened to those drivers you spent hours with.. where did they go? and recollect on those characters in the industry sadly no longer with us.

This forum is for us all to indulge in a little nostalgia and remember with rose coloured glasses how much better it was in the olden days

hiya ramone ..did you get to see the mk5 aec??? ive been told one of the adams twin headlight mk5,s is parked up in the moorlands
(buxton area) nobody seems to know about it though. it would be orange and white with a black chassis now. i know stacks of the lads
in the know around that area but all questions go blank. i think the place you may be talking about is on the a515.
John

I`ve recorded it and i`m playing it back now the blokes called Chris Sugden Smith, the AEC MKV looks like its just the cab it definitely doesn`t have twin headlights and the split screen is straight across at the bottom i wouldnt like to say what colour it is ,ive just taken these pics of them both

Hiya, heres a pic of a Mercury of Western Transport with an Oldland Motor Bodybuilders cab,who were based in Bristol.the shot was took by the late Roger Kenney.

That Drew bloke from Salvage Hunters seems a right gobsh!te. If he came snooping through my yard making me stoopid offers I'd have to clear him off.

Greeingsto you All.I found this today on the old R.N.A.S. Airfield at Ford, Littlehampton. It's an old Shell spirit tank and it's still got the "Shell Formula" logo on the side. It must have been sold on as we didn't have landing legs on our tanks, they were married from day one. It's a Thompson trailer, sitting on air and it has the later hydraulic discharge pump fitted. There's a number plate on it :- GHX 555 W. Perhaps one of you gentlemen might remember it. Regards,900x20.

I found this old girl last week but only had a couple of minutes to take a couple of pics.... No registration plates or any identifying markings but apparently all the bits are there, just not necessarily bolted to the lorry :D

Long shot I know but I was wondering if anyone can identify her....

Had some alloys for my Golf shot blasted by a local farmer just up the road from me on the A34 in Stafford. Didn't see what was lurking in the field by the industrial units he lets untill I collected the wheels yesterday!

That's William Bakers old place, I remember when the LB 76 was almost new, an E reg 67 IIRC, by the way I use that shotblaster a lot for motorcycle parts, there is also a good powder coaters shop (Nirvana eng.?) across the road from there.

Hi Bubbs, yes that would be the one but it looks like I was wrong about it being an E reg as that one is F reg and I'm pretty sure he only had the one. That photo would have been taken at East park W-ton behind the greyhound track, I think Bill Wright the salesman used to take the
new motors there for a publicity shot.
