Tomlin Personnel Limited...any good?

Hi guys,

The above agency are offering weekend only work which is what i want and was thinking of ringing in to apply but they dont have good reviews. The Sheffield branch that’s offering dont have good reviews but overall they do. HQ based in Notts

Any of you guys had any experience with them?

Cheers

Yes I have experience.

AVOID AVOID AVOID.

I could post email’s etc of me trying to get paid. But the mods woulnd’t allow it.

Worst agency I’ve dealt with. Incase you are unsure AVOID!!!

I was based out of Nottingham. And every shift I did was a fight to get paid. When I threated ACAS (PAYE fortunately) they backed down. But they were a total nightmate in every way. Lied about work (told artic turned up to a 3.5t Van and paid much lower rate). Didn’t pay unless forced. And are a total con outfit.

Again - AVOID.

So all in all you wouldn’t recommend them?

■■■■! The negative reviews are all about chasing wages as well and getting paid less.

I’ll avoid.

Cheers

The lack of money is just the half of it.

They lie about the work. And leave you in the muck. And lie to their customers meaning you are placed where you shouldn’t be.

Honestly working for them is the worst thing you could do.

Apart from what I’ve mentioned they are fantastic. Knowing they are not a million miles from you I hightly recommend you go and join up with them mate.

P.S - they like you to call each day and beg for work. Rather than calling you! I suppose if you are that desperate you might not worry about being paid or kick up a fuss.

I too will join the “not recommend them” club. Well at least the Nottingham branch.

About a year ago I applied through their website for a 4 on 4 off shunting position they were advertising.

I was then emailed back by a Gregory Manka thanking me for my interest and to come in and register but no mention of who the company was, hours, pay etc.

So I decided to ring and find out more as you would. I was told over the phone that they could not tell me who the company was for data protection - I then asked what difference coming into their office to register made to their “data protection” argument and I was given some waffle. I just said no thanks and left it as I never sign up with an agency without knowing who they deal with it.

Anyway decided to read some reviews out of interest on indeed and was surprised to see one of the people who had left a glowing review was one Gregory Manka. He thanked Tomlin Personnel for finding him work 7 days a week, he obviously knows a way around the WTD that the rest of us dont.

tbf I can see their point - for all they know you could be from another agency trying to poach some work for your own drivers

But we all know that’s not the case with the data protection waffle they gave me and its just the usual agency tactic of advertising non jobs and getting you on the books. That’s all I was highlighting here.

After all you wouldn’t go for a job interview without knowing who you were actually trying to get a job with. Alright I know an agency registration isnt strictly a job interview but I hope you get my point.

It’s only really in Driving and other low skilled jobs that they treat people with such disdain.

My partner works in the medical field. And does a fair amount of Locum work. Which is a posh way of saying she does agency on the side. No agency book her on for a shift or advertise a role without saying who you would be working for! They are open and will say if it’s NHS or private etc… The hospital or clinic. And even who your line manager will be and the specialisation of the role and requirements.

Funnily enough they do this as no self respecting professional would apply or waste their time if they didn’t give basic information. They know this so the worry about the job being stolen by another agency are not their primary consideration.

Interestingly she also gets work through an agency but invoices/is paid the trust or practise privately herself. None of this third party payment nonesense unless thats what you want (and for NHS trusts they don’t allow it).
