Your own optician probably doesn’t have the DVLA approved equipment to carry out eye examinations. Thats why they want to send you to a Specsavers branch as some of their branches do, plus the Specsavers have the contract with the DVLA to carry out eye exams for medicals, so it’s all a big money making scam between them imo.
I’m actually going for my DVLA eye exam at Specsavers in East Kilbride tomorrow morning. Had surgery for a detached retina last month, and even though the specialist who carried out my operation, and who I went to see twice afterwards for check ups says my eyes are fine now, this isn’t good enough to satisfy the DVLA!!! I even went to my local Specsavers a couple of weeks ago for my own piece of mind, done the visual field test in both eyes separately, and never missed any green dots. All this information was put on my v1V medical forms I sent off to them, but they still want me to go for another visual field test at another Specsavers branch!!!
