I’ve been driving for 15yrs now and would love to be an owner driver but really don’t want all the stress and hassles so I’ve decided to buy a truck for personal use to customise and take to shows etc. Does anyone that already does this have any recommendations for insurance companies and a rough idea of the cost to insure an XF105 480.

Try the National Farmers’ Union for insurance, or specialist insurance brokers (search Google for Classic car insurance). You’d be looking at about £250 for a 3,000 mile not-for-hire-and-reward annual policy.

This is one company offering policies for limited use private commercial vehicles. They are popular because of the ability to add on breakdown, tyre and recovery assistance. It is not limited to just bus insurance.
