Southern sand and ballest

I would have thought some one from the Southampton area would have worked here !

Hi Marriners yeah I worked for Southern Sand and Ballast but I was on the Sand Snipe which ran out of Northam, then later on the Sand Weaver, and both my brothers worked for SS&B too but also on the ship side !!

Just up off the school road estate, yellow cabs grey bodies?

used to deliver aggregates and also do “muck away” for builders.

late 70’s early 80’s one of the drivers “stood” in front of a train down at the crossing in Ashurst, Tony ■■

Chris who worked at CF went onto drive for Pratts Tippers out of Totton/Bartley and then for Lambert’s at Eastleigh.

no pictures sorry.

Long time ago correct me if I am wrong ,were they in LC Haskell’s yard and were also called Ballast Deliveries who were a takeover/merger with A E Gash from Millbrook

Defo went on to be A.E Gash with yellow cabs and a big blob and a little blob on the doors remember that like it was now, Buzzer.

Were Thomas Patterson from Lee Lane Nursling anything to do with this subject?
