Cornwall hauliers / Jobs

I am looking to relocate to the Bodmin area within the next few months.
I’ve just passed C and have C+E booked for early February.
I have 20+ years experience in logistics as despatch supervisor, loading/tipping and all aspects of despatch including TPN (Pallet Network) system experience, 20 years of shunting C and C+E etc etc.

I’ve just started searching on Indeed to see what’s around in the area and a few have appeared that sound tempting. I will also be writing to local hauliers and making some calls once I am closer to moving.
Are there any people would recommend trying or avoiding?

r&r transport
conway baily
gregorys

depends on what you want. theres a AA depot in bodmin of thats your thing.

also theres cormac,

Cheers, I looked at R&R and a few others based in Redruth, I had kind of ruled them out as my work commute would be about an hour each way.
There is a chance I could be based in Rock/Polzeath, if I end up in Bodmin then I probably would check them out.

Indeed is showing an agency advertising one in Lostwithiel delivering cages in Cornwall/Devon and Intercounty in Launceston doing night trunking which both sound appealing

fyi, pay down here is crap :imp:

Don’t believe anything on indeed mate

It’s crap where I am now too, but without the nice views!

Welcome to Cornwall.

D S Smith have a depot in Launceston if you wanted to work for an own-account co.

They specialise in paper packing and recycling…and are tipped to get bigger and bigger as the pressure mounts on supermarkets to ditch plastic.

No idea what they are like to work for.

Gregory also (always) seems to have jobs

Best of luck

I’m not surprised Gregory are always looking with that shift pattern and pay!

TNT have a depot in Bodmin. There’s also Samworth Brothers.

That Gregory job is a class 2 bread delivery in to supermarkets but it’s got the wrong title.

Who are the company in Redruth, orange cabs and white trailers?

My boy is serving in the Navy on the Lizard and we always see these wagons on the A30 whatever time day/night.

Having said that, knowing that the first 2-2 and a half hours will be driving the same road must take it out of ya.

Conway bailey.

Tango ltd was £100 a day 1 year ago, i enquired and that was flat rate, if u do 2 hours ur paid less than £100 if u do 15 its £100, spoke to a driver recently and he takes home £500ish for 60+ hours and 4 nights out. Swerve them ffs.

Don’t worry, you’ll only be doing it about once every 7 - 10 days anyway. I think Conway Bailey might own R&R also.

Westfields? As said before, Gregory’s, Samworths.

id think the various garages down there that do breakdown recovery would be worth a call get you a start. i have a Cornwall mate who was doing that till recently and altho not great money he was very busy mostly running cars up to the midlands

I’ve now got my C+E, so starting to look at bit closer at what’s about down there.
Are there any reliable/decent agencies (yes I know that’s a tall order lol) thst are worth looking at for short term work to keep the bills covered as soon as I move until I find something longer term?

I see this one always seems to be listed, the job sounds good for my needs, but the reviews of the agency don’t sound too promising

Google should bring a list up but agency wise you got Backline in Bodmin and DH in Victoria.

What you actually want to be doing for work? (Local/European/distance etc?) Or don’t care?

I don’t mind the odd night out but wouldn’t want to be tramping 3-4 nights.
Uk only, distance isn’t really an issue, I’d rather be doing that or trunking as opposed to local multi drop
