You AND your lorry!

The last wagon I had and despite having it from new it made my mind up to pack this lark in and try something else, it was one of the first air suspended FL7’s and plated for 36 tonne, should have been more like 16! enough said. Even the old Merc below which was naturally aspirated had a bit more puff and the heater actually warmed you. Happy days, well!

Hi Chris, Sure do spent some time in there with, Fearns, Lambsons & Norman Lewis, was talking to a lad from Cas last week he said there going to start knocking it down soon. Cheers Mel

Hi Chris,
It was a heap of crap,a perkins 6354,was only about 2 years old when Iit,used gallons of oil,as did several others, the transport manager was a ■■■■ head, they never maintained the lorries, only what some of the long serving blokes did themselves or when the plating came in. We had the lorries to take home,to be fair the firm was ok,except that the boss hadn’t got his finger on the pulse and let an ■■■■■■■■ run it.He was eventually sacked and they sold the fleet to Roberts Transport.
Cheers Dave.

I was never fortunate :stuck_out_tongue: enough to drive one of them, although i did drive a Kew Dodge on the farm in the 50s.
Didn’t they put a V8 ■■■■■■■ in them as an alternative to the Polly?

Hiya… In Cypress theirs a dodge like Daves with a Turbo Freighter engine and box i bet that will bob on better then a 354.
John

The only pic that I have of myself and truck, taken while tipping tarmac at Staythorpe, Notts in 1997.

Some concentration showing there Pete!

Yes Chris, got to keep my eye on the task in hand! They wouldn’t have wanted 20 ton of black in the wheelbarrow, makes it hard to find the handles.

Me in Syria 1975

Me on the left at service area M4 about 20 years later. This DAF 95 was the last lorry I ever drove as I retired shortly after this photo was taken at the ripe old age of 48.

Great stuff, keep 'em coming.

Hmm could have been around 1990, memory’s going along with the hair. Heres another. Merc SK 1626. I was about 22 here. And looking at it, I think its the BP at Alconbury as was.

Chris Webb, Wincantons at Maltby mid 1990s? I was in there once or twice with a Manton Scania 143, I did a bit of casual for them. You’ll have heard of Malton Bacon Factory I guess.

The yellow interior door looks spookily like Thompson Worldwide Removers out of Margate, Garret was to tight to paint his, he even left of the nafff factory powerliner stickers! (although they were a zb to get off and sometimes left marks in the paint!)
