They’re offering tanker work (non fuel) by me for £12.75 an hour on nights and time and half after 8 hours. Average 54 hours for something like £37k it said.

Not amazing or anything but better than what Norberts were offering not so long back. I remember a tanker job offered at £6.66 an hour.

Not bad at all. Saw ADR work near me for 12 on days. Needed tanks and Petroleum Drivers Passport (never heard of it :open_mouth:). It’s enough to make me consider it. £10 days £12 night for regular class 1 work. Seem to have average wage and decent kit. Also they only have limpers from an internal agency (drat).

£12 for nights on petrol tankers■■?

I am on £12 with £18 after 8 for ADR Packages on days, I would want much more than that for petrol work.

Pimpdaddy:
There’s a guy on here who works for them, drives a plain white new MP4

Well ■■■■ me, where do I sign :unamused:

Sorry I was wrong. £15-£18. Think £15 for days AM and £18 for nights or PM shifts. Birmingham. On tankers.

That’s more like it

Anyone doing petrol for £10ph wants their heads looking at.

Problem now is the PDP, you can’t do it unless a company puts you through it, so it can be difficult to obtain one.

If you’re already on tankers, surely having a ticket that’s difficult to get hold of is to your advantage.

It’s worth pointing out that XPO (so far) only handle the cylinder & dry ice trunking for BOC.

The bulk tankers and the delivery fleet are run in-house.

Would it not stay that way if BOC are happy with the way it’s currently working ■■

seems Humberside police may have an interest in them, been in Hull 3 times over the last fortnight and every time Ive seen an XPO wagon been pulled over by them…

Could be anything, speeding, mobile phone use, insecure load or even a routine check.

So you need a PDP to get a job on fuel but no fuel company will take you on without one. That sounds remarkably like the 2 year experience catch 22.

I guess there isn’t a driver shortage after all if they can afford to put barriers up to getting into that line of work.

Exactly - makes it a “Dead mans shoes” industry, quite literally.

I’ve heard it said that Linde don’t want to run logistics, and I’m sure XPO would love to get their hands on the bulk operation. Then there’s the way BOC pretty much never take drivers on full time.

Who knows? But I agree the cylinder trunking seems to be going well.

appently Linde are selling gist, they want to concentrateon the gas core businesses.
They sold off the forklift truck side a few years ago.

^^^ Proof right there that decent money is available in this industry. ^^^

£14.23 Nights BASIC - £21.30 OT Rate (After 40) - £28.46 Sat/Sun

Yet every time anyone states £1k a week is possible, they get called a liar by the people who are working every hour god sends for £110 a shift - or less :unamused:

I saw an ad for GBA - ADR Europe Driver £110 a day, how on earth do they get people to work for them? Hypnosis?

I’d love to get back into driving and it does show that there’s good money but with no experience or adr that rules me out lol

If I could work just Monday - Friday I’d be well happy even if it meant running in on a Saturday morning as I could see my daughter every weekend.
I’d take the 10k pay cut for that (train driver at the mo)

Without weekend working it’s 3133 a month gross doing the 50 hours.
That’s pretty good.
Would the Saturday rate come in from midnight on the Friday or would it still be classed as the weekday rates?

Just the same as people paying £60 a day and getting drivers. In the east, ADR license is the norm for most firms, for all drivers.

Is it not just the gist side that’s getting sold off ?

As I said above, just the gist side being sold
