Seems rob Roy has a bit of a reputation? How come, to me he stands his ground say how it is, stands by his word, what u
Is so don’t with that?
If you’re referring to my comments, it’s just banter mate!
Although he does seem to upset the knitting circle from time to time!
Trunker08…1 tonne pallets, with no help?
Reckon you had a result being banned from there bud, I would have asked for it in writing
btw …Thanks for what you said.
I aint really bothered if I upset one or two on here, it’s just that I am not very tolerant to ‘certain types’ and their opinions, on here, and in life. (clue…starts with ‘k’ ends with ‘heads’)
On other hand I’ve a lot of respect and time, for genuine drivers, (especially some of the older type ones that showed me stuff in the past) that come on here with relevant opinions and make a lot of sense.
But hey…you can’t be friends with everybody.
Btw nobody takes any notice on here of Mr Beezle, we all just humour him.
Yellow ebeezle, no no offence intended mate, from out side looking in,he seems to “get it” !! I don’t post very often might of got rong impression!!!
Rob Roy, as I remember, didn’t think at the time,on reflection a lot I could of said and done, get it in writing one of them!!
As they say alls well that ends well!!
trunker08:
Sorry spelling mistake will try harder next time!
Don’t worry about it mate, nobody is bothered on here.
That stuff only ever gets pointed out if the poster is a complete prick also alongside it, so nothing at all to worry about on that score.
Btw I’m pleased this forum does not include any maths on my part. if you see what I mean.
Aye, for sure rob, daughter tells me to write how it sounds!! I remember when I started as a mate, god that’s a few year ago, my driver said at the time, clean hands, clean boots, please and thankyou, speak to people as you wish to be spoken to and you won’t go far rong?
Also in this job iff you don’t know ASK, best to ask iff not sure than to tip it off on first round about,!!

The same applies in the cases where you are refused permission to use the toilets because your colleagues sh-@t out last nights curry from 4ft above the pan and deposited it half way up the walls whilst leaving it for someone else to clean up. 7
Yeh but do you really believe it?
Is it not just a convenient excuse to maintain the attitude towards drivers that I am on about. An excuse that has been used that many times in the past, by so many warehouse ops in so many places, that it has become something between a cliche and an urban myth.
I know a hell of a lot of drivers as I’m sure you do, I don’t even think the ones that are a bit lacking on the, shall we say… social class side, even [zb] up the walls to be honest.
However if this phantom wall [zb] ter is real, he’s a [zb] legend, and I’ve been apparently following this guy around (and my Dad before me) for last God knows how many years according to a lot of goods in knob heads…
I was being loaded yesterday lunch time at a large home shopping companies RDC, I walked over to the waiting room to wash my hands, where the toilet was then being cleaned, I waited patiently for the cleaner to finish his task and then proceeded to wash my hands (even rinsing the sink down afterwards). I left the toilet in a spotless condition.
I sat down in the waiting room (I was the only person in there) after about 25 minutes one of the monkeys from the booking in desk emerged and proceeded to use the toilet, he was in there for a good 10 minutes, before emerging and returning to his desk in the office.
No one else uses the toilet until I needed to pee about 15 minutes later, I entered to a filthy hole!!
The lazy f’er had left his deposit in the bowl, didn’t even bother to flush, there must have been half a roll of toilet paper on the floor and the hot tap had been left running.
And you all know full well this mess will be blamed on a driver. The staff in half these RDCs are the cause of the filth yet it’s us the drivers who get the blame. It makes my blood boil.
I always wonder what these plebs are like at home…poor little wifey running around after them, I expect, instead of giving them a firm kick in the knackers.
I know its swings and roundabouts as the old saying goes but I say to people behind transport desks who talk to me like crap, who do you think your talking to fella, remember one thing you would not have a job if were not for us drivers keeping this operation going through delivering here, simple
I recently did a dcpc at a very nice place in Burnley and somebody pi55ed over the floor every single day, only 6 of us there for the week yet somebody thought this was acceptable. Felt sorry for the poor sod that had to mop it up every day. Absolutely disgusting and uncalled for.

You don’t paint a very pretty picture of US truckers RH.
I always imagined US drivers as a combination between Kris Kritofferson, Sonny Pruitt and The Bandit, with a little bit of John Wayne chucked in.
They sound as bad as some of the sorry arsed crew that we are forced to share the job with.
You say ‘average’ so at least at the top end there must be some quality stereotype US truckers among them.
How do you as a Brit fit in over there, both work and socially, with both the upper and lower end of the quality, do they accept you…and at what point did you stop wearing your hi viz when driving
Alas, America and her truckers are not what you imagine Rob. I think my above description was pretty generous to them and if anything I’ve been a bit too kind.
I’ve never really thought about being accepted here by other drivers. Practically all of my fellow driver friends here are other Brits, with a few Irish etc and I suppose because the gulf between how things are done here compared to Britain and Europe means that we tend to relate to each other a lot more and just shake our heads with disbelief at much of what we witness on a daily basis here. There are obviously very good aspects about being here, the fact we’re not treat like ■■■ by the public and shippers/receivers is a huge plus point over the UK, as is the plentiful supply of free truckstop parking and the like. But the way the companies run the job here is enough to make you pull your hair out at times.
Not sure how to answer your last question, whats this “hi viz” thing you refer to?
most the places I made a stand at I am no longer allowed to visit. it also amazed me how as I got older the less being sat for hours bothered me (this plus the fact I was being paid not losing money from my own truck).
as long as I handed in my car keys and could sit in the cab I got to the stage of I no longer care.

Just stating the obvious, Brits living abroad gather with other Brits instead of doing it with locals, if the language of the country they live its not English they rarely learn it, they can live for decades in other country and never assimilate by taking host country citizenship for example.
Whats wrong with stating a fact?
Never meant to disrespect, thats why put a smiling face at the end.
I know but I am pretty sure Americans speak English, so no need to learn the language. having said this in the UK you have areas of polish/Romanians etc. its human nature to stay in your comfort zone.
plus if as said they are borderline the missing link why would you want to go out your way to entre into a series of grunts with them?

I don’t know about that
Since I join this forum, I started learning “new” English.
