…whats wrong with showing breaks when you need them shown,and taking them whenever it suits you…otherwise showing some initiative.Why does it come as no surprise what you said? It isn’t called initiative, its called being a mug and whats more you’re too stupid to see that you’re being taken for one. Do you give your boss the reach around as he’s shafting you? After all you seem to do just about everything else that he wants you to do, all in the name of being thought as as a good driver
Whats it like working in the azzhole end of haulage for barely more than a Tesco shelf stacker taking it up the backside from your gaffer on a daily basis?
and there was me thinking I worked for myself,making a fortune compared to others,with the advantage of cowboying it to suit myself.i e work things to suit the big picture and use your initiative .bend or break the rules to suit yourself,…somewhat different to the bean counters that tend to post the holier than though jobsworth guff in here. if you cant come and go with your employer for a decent wage etc,then take a different job,theres millions of drivers to chose from so nobodys desperate.if you haven’t the wherewithal or personality to do that,then best working as a beancounter for Tosco or similar.that way you wont need to (perish the thought )…pee in a bottle,or worse still have to contemplate sleeping in a layby or having to do many of the normal stuff associated with normal expectations in the trruckie world i.e speeding from time to time… who would you employ if you ran your own smaller business,someone hands on who can just get the job done,or some holier than though nugget rest room jobsworth…a bit of a no brainer there?..if it wasn’t true it would be pitiful.i tell my non internet mates about the posts in here and they invariably think im making them up,. I just like cowboying along suiting myself ,flat out does it for me,hence it makes it more interesting and a bit of a challenge instead of leaving my brain,heart and soul before I leave to head out. it makes me laugh when I see all the posts about sitting at 56,52,or 50 etc,its definitely more fun at 64,( unless your flying by wire),each to their own son. if you cant hack it one way,hack it the way you can handle.

I’m no expert, but I always thought it was the shafter that gave the reach around? 
Any experts care to comment?
Hi all thanks for input I had an early start this morning going to wattisham airfield near ipswich… I decided sod it im having a full 45 min break in a layby and he just happened to ring me and see how I was doing (prob wanted to give me another job) I told him I was on my break and a long pause of silenced followed

Yep quite correct, I can confirm it is the shafter that performs the reach round manouvre on the shaftee, the shaftee can perform a reach behind manouvre and grasp the shafters buttocks thus controlling the shafters thrusting speed and penetration although this is frowned upon and considered a little awkward and a bit gay.

I mean doing other work sorry my fault. … I must mention I worked on a sewage tanker for 4 years (and yes it did stink) and we didn’t use tacos so im still gettin used to all the abbreviations e.t.c

Driver shortage don’t you know.
Must admit done this a few times but only when I’ve got close to the 6 or 9 hour mark and have needed the break whilst working But after I always stop as soon as I can and take the break and leave tacho on work. I don’t get paid for breaks so not working for free.
I wouldn’t work through a break after 4:30 driving only w.t.d if had too but like I said I will always have it at somepoint in day.

I do/ have tipped/ loaded on break,never been asked/ told to do it by anybody ,I do it because I want to get home ASAP,sometimes it gets me back 45 mins early ,other days it means I end up doing 15 hrs without a proper break .Dozy by name Dozy by nature !!!
Yet earlier in the thread you say I do IF IT SUITS me
But I have a proper break you by your own admission don’t.
