Hope you’re on the mend Mal.
At least if you’re not driving, you will have plenty of time to post on Trucknet

Blimey Mel…
I really hope you get well soon… Take it easy and chill out…

Hi mal…sorry to hear about the ticker m8…but you aint beating me…cos i been there …got the t shirt…yes mate the drug that you had .i had to have too…but they told me that if i didnt have it i could die…and if i did have it…i could die too as it thins the blood so much thats its like water and could pour out of anywhere like the ears, eyes etc and they couldnt control it…this was 2o/c in the morning.anyway a week or so later i had the angiogram and they found the blocked artery, which is being treated with drugs which i have to stay on for the rest of my life…the hospital told me that i did not have to notify swansea…however the cardiac doctor i saw months afterwards told me that i do have to…well i never did…but although i still have 2 years left on my licence i fear that the medical will show them i have had 2 heart attacks and as it stands at the moment swansea will not renew the licence, but i have no further evidence other than to write to them which i am reluctant to do at the moment for obvious reasons because i do intend doing a bit of casual work in the near future…but no doubt others will enlighten us…but i wish you well and all the best with your operation, a friend of mine had a 5 valve renewal when he lived in belgium and is driving in the uk heavy goods so maybe its possible, on another note i had to change my diet, and lifestyle…but unfortunately i am still smoking and drinking…a habit that will have to cease shortly…good luck…trucky
Good luck mate. Get well soon.
Sorry to hear about that Mal, all the best for the op and wish you a speedy recovery.
Sorry to hear about this Mal, take it easy & best of luck. You could be Trucknets answer to Sally traffic
Ruddy Hell Mal, that’s a surpise - for me as well as you I bet. Just like to add GET WELL and HOPE TO SEE YOU BACK BEHIND THE WHEEL SOON. - If that’s what you want.
Cheers
Ian.
Thanks all of you for the kind messages and encouragement! Im doing really OK, though walking over 50yds right noew would put me back in the hospital! After the operation, i’ll see how it goes work-wise, if i still think the same as I do now, I wont be driving no more, but thats the future. For now, I’ll have a lot of time to post, watch the telly, and get waited on!
p.s. If i do happen die of another heart attack during the night, I’ll post in the morning, to let youse all know!
Mal I don’t know what I could say that hasn’t been said. Perhaps you’ll have to get one of them “granny go carts” put a small trolley on the back to keep your hand in.
All the best for the op and may your recovery be quicker than your driving.
Coffeeholic:
Blimey it is going to be a bit boring and a bit of a shock to the system.Maybe you should take a sleeping bag and a wee gas cooker and sleep in the shed for 3 or 4 nights a week, you know a confined space and not that comnfortable so it will be a little like work and wean you off it gently? Maybe your wife could come and knock on the door and charge you £10 for parking yourself there.

Mal, hope you get mended soon, ask them if they fancy cleaning your cab out when they flush out you arteries.
Seriously though, I don’t know what I’d be more gutted about, finding out you have a dodgy ticker or that you may never get back behind the wheel again. At least they can give you a new heart these days to keep you alive, but taking your licence off you is a real downer. Next stop transport manager?
All the best chief, we’re all thinking of you. Take care and best of luck with the op.
With any luck they’ll give you the all clear and a green light to get back in your wagon.
Yes I noticed Mal was absent for a long time. I thought it was because he had bought a Sudden Accident and darent tell us
Get well soon Mal, Hope you can get clearance for your licence soon, if you want it back that is!
That post came as a shock when I read it
Mal hope you get better soon. As you may know I was diagnosed with angina last July. Had the angagram and have been told i have diffuse angina. I was at the hospital the other day and was told not to drive HGV. I am getting a lot better now and my main aim is to pass the medical to get my licence back. Keep your chin up. My doctor said now I am being treated there is less chance of me having a heart attack than the man in the streeet. So look on it as a warning shot mate. Keep us informed and any questions don’t hesitate to ask.
