I’m not stereotyping, but corner shops are not subject to tacho/WTD rules. Trucking is however, and this prevents them from working 24/7, 365. So how could they possibly make money in haulage? Maybe thats why we don’t see too many.

By mentioning the west indies i was just making sure i encapsulated most of the ‘slave triangle’, because to be frank when anyone mentions slavery really what they mean is that specific American/West Indian trade and not other slave trading going on at the same time, predating it or preceding it.

If you were a black man then slavery was a bit of a pain I imagine, but it wasn’t a racist thing, that came later when the slaves gained freedom, some people’s views were that they were a lower form of life because of their past, that attitude still exists and is the biggest cause of problems from both sides of the fence.
They still can’t drive to save their lives though

Yes I agree but the trend is depleting , and it depends in the area. Im sure in the future there will be more ethnic minority’s becoming truckers

I guarantee that will be true in a few years, only trouble is, it will be the white man who is the minority The rate of breeding in the white Anglo Saxon race is less than enough to maintain the numbers we have now, only longer lifespans are keeping our numbers up. Whereas the ethnic races breed at a much higher rate and at a younger age, so it won’t take long
See quite a few black drivers, but not many Asians, which is just as well as they are the most godawful drivers on the planet.
For those who think there are not many Asian or African drivers, you want to try getting on an Arriva bus in Derby, or any other city I imagine

i think a good reason we dont see many muslim drivers is friday is thier holy day, and thay get called to prayer a few times on a friday altough workable in many jobs driving isnt one of them i think bus driving may be the exeption as thay can alter thier shifts like sunday to thursday ect
The bloke who taught me to drive an artic was black. Not the one who got me through my test, but afterwards sat with me the one day a week that I was allowed to drive one of the artics around central London. The bloke who taught me how to service and repair HGV’s and got me through college was Indian.

IIRC there are several Sikh-owned tippers in the Birmingham area, think it’s Singh Transport Ltd and they’ve been going for quite a few years.
Stennetts had a West Indian driver till recently, really nice bloke, but I think he’s moved on 'cos I saw him t’other day on the M4 pulling a Civil and Marine cement tanker.
