Why do car drivers do this?

oh god a bus driver :exclamation:

Why, i have right of way end of story, im on the main carrigeway :exclamation:
ok you are in your car joining the motorway you see a big nasty lgv doing 56mph do you
A slow down thinking nasty truck driver has to slow down for me to get in doing 54.5mph or
B speed up your powerfull car that can do 0-60mph in seconds leaving truck behind
:open_mouth:

The comments that Chas has made are mostly spot on

Oi. Mostly?

Please help me to advance my perceptions & point out to me where I’m going wrong?

I’ve never claimed to be the font of all knowledge, every experience is a learning experience to me.

Ok albion1971

highway code 2007
joining a motorway :give priority to traffic already on motorway.
check traffic on motorway and match your speed to fit safely into
the traffic flow in the left hand lane.etc
what cant speak cant lie

The highway code tells you the basics.Have you ever done any advanced courses?

A snippet I posted earlier…

You can help potential traffic entering the motorway by carefully moving over from the left hand lane, to the middle lane. This will help them join more safely. If this is impossible due to heavy traffic in the other lanes, try to adjust your speed to allow the joining traffic some space. Never get into a race with them. Look well ahead and see what vehicles are joining and how they are spaced, and consider adjusting your speed.

Advanced courses, break the law if it is safe

Yes I do and have done for many years.I also take my driving very seriously and class myself as a professional.
As the years have gone by I see the standard of driving becoming poorer by the day.
Attitudes have changed as is very obvious by a lot of the comments on here.Drivers being arrogant abusive and downright selfish on the roads.Blaming everbody else but themselves.Somebody just today said they can’t keep a safe distance because of the roads ans the traffic. What a pathetic excuse for bad driving.
I used to be proud to say I was a truck driver but now I just keep my mouth shut as the vast majority of people class them as arrogant bullies and in a lot of cases they are quite correct.

So how do you cope with 7+ cars bumper to bumper coming in from that entry slip road?

What do you as a professional driver do in such a circumstance?

What do you recommend that the rest of us do?

Should we adjust our speed & let 'em in? Or, should we force our way into lane 2?

Panic brake & cause an RTA behind us perhaps?

As a so called professional you should know the answer to these questions. My suggestion is that more truck drivers should keep a safe traveling distance the situation would ease considerably but that is a rare sight these days.

Thats all very well and good in a perfect world but how many times have we done that and the tool in the car leaves you out there to dry like ■■■■■■■ spare prick at a whores wedding??
I used to do that years ago, but not any more, getting screwed over gets real old - quickly!

Wrong you do not have right of way.You have priority. There is only one thing on the road that has priority and that is a pedestrian.
So it is not the end of the story.Knowledge is a wonderful thing that makes you a better driver.

Isn’t that the highway code everyone reads when taking there test

No not anymore since they brought out the theory test and the ridiculous hazard perception mind you I do not think many know the HC anyway by the poor driving standards we see on our roads everyday.

What on earth makes you think that? A lot of the drivers on here seem to think they are though.
I am off out now to get some decent adult conversation but thanks for your opinions.

Your welcome have a nice night

You could always be a professional and ease off and let them in for once.
It seems a lot on here blame everyone else and expect them to do everything correct and if they don’t they are idiots.
You never see idiot truck drivers do you■■?

“Easing off” causes so many problems for other users though.

i continued to “ease off” and so did she ,in the end we where both doing about 20mph

This is why you shoudn’t commit yourself by flashing someone out.You are ‘committed’ and feel the need to ‘help’ the situation. It’s a dodgey place to be. I can say I’ve been there and I won’t be flashing any car out.

because they are all merchant bankers, even those who match your speed to pull out in front of you so you move over to let them in then they ■■■■ off leaving you stranded, ■■■■■

Chas you like a lot of others on here seem to make up your own rules. You really should try to learn how to be a professional.

A little snippet for you…

You can help potential traffic entering the motorway by carefully moving over from the left hand lane, to the middle lane. This will help them join more safely. If this is impossible due to heavy traffic in the other lanes, try to adjust your speed to allow the joining traffic some space. Never get into a race with them. It’s clear from both your username and your post above that you haven’t driven on a UK motorway for at least 20 years. It’s the people that instantly jump into lane 2 whenever they see a slip road that are the cause of all the problems. They have created a monster where joining traffic now believes they have right of way and EXPECTS lane 1 traffic to move out of their way to accommodate them. This is the exact reason why they sit alongside you right to the end of the slip ramp and then get arsey and brake test you when you don’t move o

The comments that Chas has made are mostly spot on - stay where you are, maintain your speed and let them sort themselves out, BUT, be prepared to alter your speed to accommodate them if you can see they’re about to end up in the ditch where the road runs out or do something else equally stupid. If you slowed down for everything joining like your “advice” states then you’d never get anywhere, plus people behind you would get annoyed if you brushed off too much speed.

It is clear is it? Just last week I took a truck from Glasgow to Birmingham. An MAN with an auto box.A complete doddle to drive compared to older trucks.
Gives you more time to concentrate on the road and other traffic.

You say the comments made by Chas are spot on then you go on to say be prepared to alter your speed.Chas said he would not alter his speed.Get it right eh!

I can read quite well thanks but the what you wrote actually contradicted itself.Nothing much wrong with my driving either but you are a very clever bloke being able to assess it over an internet forum.
Why don’t you have an English lesson and an Advanced driving course may work wonders.Have a nice day now.
