Who Uses Seatbelt in Truck?

All the time. Precious cargo!

jimti:
I have no problem with wearing seat belts in trucks, but do often forget to put mine on, I think that is because the last truck I had didn’t have belts fitted.

I got fined €90 for not wearing my belt in France a few months ago, and wore it for the rest of that trip, but I seem to have a problem getting into the habit of putting it on.

note to self…must try harder

I always wear the one in my car

I managed to avoid getting fined, but plenty of my mates have been done abroad ,so i now wear mine all the time.

always use mine, if its fitted use it …[/b]

Belt or no belt? No contest really

This has been linked many times but still worth watching.

Always, both in car & truck

Here’s one I made earlier

Never. Pure agony and bloody dangerous for me thanks to the spasms it triggers.

It’s ok in the car, so I wear it then, but not in truck or Landy. Something to do with the different seating positions I think.

I qualify for a medical exemption, but it costs £60 on top of your regular licence fees to get it put on so haven’t bothered. I can get caught 3 times before I even reach the point of zero saving. :stuck_out_tongue:

That said, I’ve heard the price/rules have changed now somay well check that out and get it added when (if) I renew my licence this year. :bulb:

Didnt used to but do now all the time once i copped a fixed penalty for not doing so £30 :unamused:

Klunk Click every trip (as Jimmy Saville used to say), it’s been the law for years so not something you can forget

Single - no ties - no family - no mates - no bother with seatbelt

Partner - kids - sister/brother - parents - mates - again, no bother with seatbelt - wont be here to suffer - they can all suffer instead

Obviously not a very good LGV Instructor if you fail to ensure that your trainees observe the law at all times !!!

I am assuming that you aren’t a hypocrite and you don’t insist on your trainees doing something you aren’t prepared to do yourself.

The above quote of mine has nothing to do with the trainees who always wear the seatbelt along with myself - no seatbelt worn - no truck move :exclamation:

The quote was to do with a ‘way of thinking’ that some drivers have - IE, if there is ONLY yourself that would be affected by the not wearing of the belt then fine, no-one else will suffer but as most people have loved ones who will suffer if you do not wear a seatbelt and it could have saved your life, then think about wearing it for THEM :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation:

Seem to have misread your intent.

Please accept the apology.

Everyone should remember that if for any reason the darned thing ends up on its left side 8 feet is a long way to fall.

Yeah, I can see where you’re coming from there Smee, and on an individual basis, you make a valid point.

My thoughts are that the Government look at the RTA figures and work out how many injuries could have been saved if people had worn their seatbelts and then looked at the financial cost of caring for them during their recovery (Emergency services/Hospital/rehabilitation/the cost of the drugs used etc etc etc). This medical bill is met by the taxpayer in this country in the form of the NHS and other agencies. The powers that be will then legislate accordingly to bring that cost down so the money can be better spent in other areas.

In the unfortunate event that YOU are injured in an accident (whilst exercising your Human Right NOT to wear your seatbelt) and the severity of your injuries could have been reduced by you wearing a seatbelt, I would argue that YOU are breaching everyone else’s Human Rights by intentionally (or recklessly) becoming a burden on the NHS.

Something to think about.

No problem   - it is also my fault for not making the intent clearer

There’s no such thing! :unamused:

But you are free to not wear your seatbelt, it’s your choice. I was just making a point.

Maybe they should abolish the seatbelt law, but make RTA victims pay for their own care if they weren’t wearing their belt (so the rest of us don’t have to chip in for someone else’s selfishness)… What do you think?

Are you a Health and safety guy…
