Who do you sympathise with?

Winseer:
Isn’t this dashcam mount a little on the low side for a truck?

My money went on it being a “White Van Man” dashcam. The language fitted better than one of us as well I thought. There would be lots of [zb]'s rather than 's right? :smiling_imp:
The way he just ploughed into the cutting-in caravan tower would suggest he had nothing but contempt for his own vehicle as well, which leads me to the conclusion that YES it was a works vehicle, but NO it wasn’t one with a tacho/digicard in it - ie no way a professional’s vehicle. Odds on he doesn’t hold a blue card either.

Who would drive like this in their own car, let alone a truck they’d be expected to drive every day?
People think having a dashcam in the front exonerates them of any blame for anything whatsoever. I bet the insurer ramps up their premiums for sideswiping/rear ending the caravan, seeing as that’s what’s on the footage here…

All in all, Not one of us I think… :bulb:

1, he did not side swipe the caravan, the caravan attempted to come into the slip from a live lane. He forced the blue scenic to speed up when coming over, the rear of the caravan was behind the front of the van/truck. further on he illegal crossed over a solid white line of a chevron and went in front of said vehicle leaving him nowhere to go.The caravan driver had no extended mirrors therefore driving with undue care and attention.

2, The truck driver attempted to go left but would of mowed down the cones, the caravan then decided to speed up and try and force his way in, but as said previously all you white than white drivers on here think you are above others.

I respect fully that it is one of the most important jobs and very stressful at times carry but no driver is above another!

No need to be whiter than white to get beyond this typical scenario without having to stop for paperwork and schoolgirl tantrums.
Pretty basic stuff to avoid a collision and the truck / white van driver in this example is behaving like a child competing for a sweet or in this case a bit of road position.

Fair to say we are being harsh but we all encounter this scenario regularly (especially at the M6 / Catthorpe interchange).

So given the video evidence its a 50/50 split of culpability, and thats being kind to the so called pro / vocational driver that makes a pigs ear of a non event due to an over aggresive attitude that doesn’t bode well for future shenanigans.

Sure theres a wobblebox forum somewhere giving the caravan driver a roasting.

I checked out his FB page when this video was still up there and he posted a review of the Lymm truckstop saying it was a dump and “at least I was only there for a 45” so it does look like he’s a truck driver (if only 7.5T) but I also think this vehicle is a van. I suspect a Sprinter judging by the sound of the engine.

There both knobs not only did they try and ram each other of the road but failed to workout the way around this, i.e to Junction 7 U turn and join the M5 that way!

As for Catthorpe I cannot bear to sit in the que so use the M1 & A45 morally I cannot jump in at the last minute, what they fail to realize is that has been a lot of very serious accidents try to jump in at the last minute. Fast moving traffic suddenly stops because someone left it too late and you get rear ended by a truck at speed!

They need to understand the point of no return your committed to that route keep going to the next junction, also applies to roundabouts.

bazza123:
To Robroy, what foul mouthed girl■■?

Is there a follow up video?

No I meant that mouthy cow on the facebook page that agreed with everything that knob head driver said

The-Snowman:
When I worked for First bus a driver actually said to me that an indicator allowed you to move out because “Its not asking, its called an indicator because its indicating my INTENTION to move out. Traffic should stop”. How do you deal with attitudes like that?l

You do know that if a bus indicates you have to give way right?

In the eyes of the law, I reckon he’s shot himself in the foot.
The dash cam has given him a false sense of security and Its bloody obvious he allowed the red mist to come down.
The road is full of Richard heads driving cars, you just deal with it (not like that) let it go and move on.

What would it be like if we all simply wiped out every car who cut us up every day? :open_mouth:

waynedl:
If you CAN avoid an accident, then you SHOULD avoid an accident, simples. Anything else is road rage.

Pretty much where that truck drivers house of cards is going to come crashing down!

My missus gets mad at me when I let driver’s across into ‘my’ lane at junctions etc when they have (a) left it late on purpose or (b) have genuinely got in the wrong lane, which we have ALL done at sometime or other and will most probably do again! I tell her that eventually SOMEBODY has to let them in so it might just as well be me, the longer they stay in that lane driving slowly while trying to get across or actually stopped means they are a danger to themselves and other vehicles behind them so the safest thing to do is lose myself a whole nano second out of the day and let them across! She doesn’t see it that way though… :unamused:

Pete.

yeah, same as that mate. Also funnily enough, my mrs is also same as that too
She gets so bloody angry and needs to take a chill pill.

I’m gonna take a punt at answering that question; I reckon one of two things would happen, either the road would be full of extremely courteous, careful drivers, or more likely there’d be very little traffic left!

So a win - win then?
Ok, who’s up for it?

Bring a Scania pilot obviously I’m unable to participate as I can’t allow anything to spoil the graceful lines of the front corners, but I’ll be with you in spirit :stuck_out_tongue:

I have to take issue with that. The truck/van/total idiot driver made no attempt to avoid the collision, by either dropping back or moving to the left. He only moved to the left as he accelerate to block the wobblebox!!

I certainly don’t think the wobblebox puller is free from blame here incidently.

This is what happens when two knobs get into a contest about who can pish highest…

The so-called professional here would be seeking a new employer if he worked for me, “Willful damage to company property” (gross misconduct) he could, and should, have used the brakes to keep his boss’ truck intact. If he wants to claim he didn’t do it on purpose the only other conclusion is gross negligence… in not looking what he was doing.

Who here couldn’t/wouldn’t have prevented this even without the extra warning of it developing your mirrors would give?

Sure, caravanner should have carried on to next junction having not moved left soon enough for this one, there’s no excuse for either of them.

Opinion, both should be banned from driving for a significant period, and required to resit their tests from scratch for all classes of vehicle they intend to drive again in future.

Yeah, I reckon it’s 50/50. Truck driver’s made a name for his self sure enough. Caravan man no better. What a pair of berks.

Why is it that so many so called professional drivers on here insist on saying that someone has ‘right of way’ ? I have to admit it’s one of my pet hates. NO ONE has right of way. Someone even posted an extract of the highway code in this thread covering that. Aaah, I feel better now.

I’ll throw a spanner into all this -

I reckon if any action is taken - Road Traffic Law might be bypassed and go straight to criminal law for both - criminal damage. (Damage to property either intentional or through negligence)

Both show such negligence and wilful disregard for each other and the repercussions for their actions that they fulfil the conditions for a charge under this I believe.

Same here my missus goes mad when I let folks in all the time and even let folks in that are not sure if they want to be let in.

She says “your not in your truck now, drive like a man” and other encouraging phrases.

I have cured this back seat driver mentality by always carrying a roll of carpet and some strong tape in the car and hovering behind her whilst she loads the shopping in the boot.

“Right of way” has been a term that has been used for many years and will be continued to be used for many years to come, agreed the Highway Code doesn’t state that anyone has the “right of way” but it does state when you should give way to someone, thus giving them the right of way. It’s like a driver saying “I only have 1 15 hour shift left” nowhere does it state there’s a 15 hour shift, only a 9 hour rest in 24 hours but these are exactly the same thing worded differently :grimacing:

Just to sum up both these characters.
Caravanman… incompetent weekend only type driver that should not be pulling any type of trailer for his own good.

Professional driver …(term used loosely) arrogant idiot that should not be allowed to drive anything bigger than a car.

Has anybody on here got access to his facebook page, it would be interesting to see his reaction to what has been put on here.

Mate on pistonheads sent me this way after previous pistionheads / truckent cross threads I was in.

Safety standown in office today, and everyone agreed caravan driver starts the accident but trucker fails to avoid it. Our proffessional considered response was let the bugger in, even if it costs you a few seconds. Our “personal views collated”. Rruckers with dashcams are out to prove a point and are selfish and drive below the standard of the average road user. Thus us mere amateurs should seek to re-instate the give way rules, don’t let truckers out when it is busy, as one of them has let the side down to prove a point. We’ll point counter point. Should know better. Back of the class for you me lad.

If you get a three fingered wave (two in a V for ‘vans’ and one stuck up) for sticking up the arse you’ve been sat on all day the Pistonhead cver’s have spotted ya.

Nah, still gibberish, even if I squint a bit ^^^
