Having been on agency work at the end of last year I got to drive many of the latest trucks, I thought the Mercs were good, but still prefer the Volvo FH. although to honest there isn’t really a great deal to choose between them and it might just be because i’m used to Volvo’s.
I’d like to have a go at driving a full spec American truck, I’ve driven a Freightliner, but it was a cabover and very basic spec.
Are most of the Merc votes based on top spec artics? I voted for Merc based on the Axor being well setup for my job, although I get a funny look at work when saying I’d choose one.
i would say a scania v8 with topline cab is the truck with the best image on the road, the daf xf105 with super space cab would be the best cab to live in for a driver away from home for long periods but volvo in my opinion is the best engineered truck on the road-i think its build quality reliability longevity are the best of any truck-only bad point is the raked windscreen which cuts down on interior space but am looking forward to seeing the new model when it appears.
MAN
redbob:
MAN
MANs do look very smart, have a much fresher look about them than volvos and scanias
MAN TGX 480 XXL
Had a go in these a while back and absolutely loved it.
Also would like to drive a Magnum again for the seat and table/bottom bunk. Very comfy for doing the paperwork at the end of the day.
MAZ Pierestroika for me, please
That was some very modern concept from Soviet Union. Some of ideas were “borrowed” by Renault and are now known as Magnum
Gotta be a V8 Scania just for the rumble of the engine
Daf 3300ati SpaceCab with 13 speed box, a real lorry & yes I’d be happy to tramp in one today!
As far as modern wagons go then probably either an FH 660 with I-shift or a Mega Space Actros, V8 Scanny’s are okay but the living rooms rubbish imho.
I can’t wait for Christmas, I want one of these NOW!!!
I wonder, is the driver entitled to the minimum wage.youtu.be/SEtj8iHJLJU

Come to think about it, a Dennis tipper would be something I’d like to try; walk through cab’d be great for tight deliveries…
centurion 100 scania 143 500 4x2 that has been restored to original condition and originally ran by ronnie fielding both driven by jacko22 and dazzler! still looks as good as the day it rolled out the factory

MMMMMH, i wonder what your side kick would like to ride ey hutchie… … prob be a new un molested chicken shed coz he likes em ikle chickens old gogzy
Muckaway:
Mercedes Axor 8wheeler then probably a HinoMakes no longer produced I’d say Foden 4000 with Cat 350 or ERF EC11 or Mercedes SK.
I’d just like to bump a Volvo FE7 to the top of my list; Currently driving an 08 plate one for a week and it’s a great little motor. I’d just request a basic sleeper for a bit more room and a bit more ground clearance.
Oh and I-Shift
Scania Longline, although i’ve never seen one in this country before.

id settle for ghostzapper tho daz psml
Luckily early on in my driving career I managed to drive my dream truck while working on the agency. A Renault Magnum. What a fantastic motor. I only had the chance to drive it for about 3 weeks while I was working for an air freight company, but it was a truly memorable time. All the guys in the traffic office where I ended up working as a manager used to take the mickey out of me, but I 100% stand by my choice, although I have had the opportunity to drive pretty much everything down the years.
AEC Mandator V8
Never had the pleasure of driving a Magnum, but they are a very imposing vehicle and I certainly feel as though I’ve missed out.
As another one on the agency for a long time I’ve driven all and sundry. MAN and DAF have a lot of the things I want in a truck - space, comfort, ease of use, everything in the right place - but Mercedes seem to have all this and a little bit more. Drove an Axor for over a year and loved it, just not as much space as it’s big sister, the Actross which would be my choice.
A new one would be very nice thank you, but I’d be quite happy to settle for an old one.
(But if you really want to ■■■■ me off give me something Swedish - seriously over-rated!)
