Spot on WBIS. He does come out with some [zb]. It was the politicians, economists, bankers and developers that have screwed Spain not the unions or the working man. Just a shame that they are going to be forced to seek a bail out that will put them in hock to Germany for decades.

personally being in hock to germany is a good thing, most of our work goes to or comes out of germany so I’ll be happy doing germany every trip and we’ll get more tourists from germany who’ll want to come and see where there money has gone so the local bars and hotels win!!

Be careful what you wish for !. German cash tends to come with lots of strings attached. You might find there is a lot less Sangria and Solomillo and more beer and sausage.

german beer is lovely and the wursts in the services with the brot MMMMMM, tasty

just because you disagree with me, isn’t a reason to be offensive.
i have travelled extensively throughout spain since the 1980’s. they havn’t changed a bit.
they will tip or load you when they can be bothered.
my brother has a place near valencia, the builders were always late, they wanted to go home early, sometimes they didn’t show up at all. after they got issued with a serious threat it did change for the better.
this is the same in any country, however, i find it worse in spain.
as for the east europeans, i have never met a lazy one.
so less of the personal remarks. you can disagree with me all you want, it is what discussions are all about.

what personal remarks? the bit about the smuggling has   and   after it so its not offensive its more sarcastic.
as for your quote about builders there’s some things you need to consider, firstly builders are temperametal anywhere, secondly they were working for an englishman so they thought they could “swing the lead”, and thirdly maybe your brother didn’t speak enough spanish to get them working in the first place.
I’m not saying east europeans are lazy, you said that others were lazy which is why they get the jobs. well thats offensive to all those who have lost a job through money not work ethics.
as for not tipping or loading you phil that could be again to do with communication maybe?

no, not off you.

If there all so smart and hard working how is it that there own countries are such dumps that they all can’t wait to leave ?.

It was called communism, remember that? And do you also remember all the EU Grants that Spain and Portugal were given which they spent on subsidised lorries and flooded the transport sector. Sadly these lorries wore out, and then the old communists were given the EU grants.

The wall came down 22 years ago. A lot of those leaving now weren’t even born then. I don’t think that stacks up as a reason anymore. You see the same thing in North Africa now, they want freedom and democracy and as soon as they get it they pi*s off. I don’t think the spanish were given subsidised trucks. They got access to cheap finance. They didn’t flood the whole european transport business, they just took a bigger share of there home market at a time when there exports were booming.

How do you sort all the paper work out with not being near the office for mounths
I mean consiment notes, tacos, pay slips
Nolans only seam to look at you if you have a CV
Any list of any more irish companies doing this kind of work most appreciated

I had an idea as oposed to the gentlments clubs
You hear on the TV about all theres imagrent getting into the UK in the back of a lorries
I dont know if this is true or just more ■■■■■■■■ propergander from the usuall suspects
But Im sure someone will tell me
Do you see imagrents wighting about in the laybys in calis
If so are there any lady imigrents near by that you could make a deal with her getting her in the contory for exchange of payment on the rug

Regardless of what any of you think to the above postings
Spain has allways sufered from high uneployment right back untill the 90s (like us rely but with out all the proergander of incapacity benifits est)
Being flooded with migrents from poorer easten europen contory has added a lot to all this
This problem is the same for every westen europen state
And there is notihng these states can do about the level of migrents
Brittan is no exseption
This is the whole ideology of the EU
make the west poorer and the east richer
There is only one solution and that is to suport parties like ukip and bnp and get out of the EU

Communism had done the damage, then 7 years ago today many new countries were invited to join the EU, if you were up to your neck in mud you would try to get out, wouldn’t you? I think by reading the Amsterdam Treaty about subsidies it seems that the agricultural side got a huge cut, was it they who suddenly had a new 3 axle fridge in the packhouse?

im not sure if batista230 is actually looking for a job or not, but on nolans website the say “we are always looking for new drivers” i was in rosslare last weekend and nearly every truck heading to the ferry was a nolans one, it seems like a good way to get european work, the other trucks all seemed to be smaller operators like brennan, killybegs, o tooles, ballycotton, etc
although as switchlogic and others will say not a great company to work for,

couple of years ago i worked for neol zwecker 6 weeks away then a week off.
always got a lift off another driver neol paid for the ferry, all i did was ring there
office up and got offerd a job a driver came and picked me up to start the job.
i did try virginia but never had any luck just put it down to wrong time.
if you really want a job just get on internet find the numbers a ring them up…

All this talk about websites and CV’s what is the world coming to :unamused: whatever happened to picking up the phone, asking if there’s a vacancy and telling them how brilliant you are and making sure you tell them everything they want to hear, even if it isn’t always the 100% truth :bulb: :bulb:
looking at websites is not as good as getting the info from the horses mouth, some companies might update the website for jobs on a weekly basis but drivers in large firms like Nolans come and go every day, Seamus doesn’t suffer fools gladly, I’ve seen him in action in the yard and it’s entertaining

I’ve been on the receiving end of a Seamus Nolan tirade and it’s not quite so entertaining from that angle!

switchlogic:
I’ve been on the receiving end of a Seamus Nolan tirade and it’s not quite so entertaining from that angle!

I remember one day after washing the truck went for an oil change, stood outside the garage talking to him about something or other. he looked down to the bottom where the pumps and wash were and a driver was screwing a trailer round near the pumps. the noise on the tyres was dreadful, he jumped in that battered old red van of his and flew down the hill, must have hit 70 in about 7 seconds
the barrage he gave the driver was heard all over the place (which is big) when he came back he just resumed our conversation quite sedately
the father is the funniest, just rambles about shouting for no apparent reason, reminds me of Father ■■■■■■■■ the tv series Father Ted

Well I effectively got sacked by Seamus! The fact it was my first truck driving job coupled getting on average 2/3 hours sleep a night mean’t I wasn’t the most damage free driver. Seamus proceeded to rip me to shreds in the middle of the yard one day, sacking me in the process. I went to the phone in the workshop to tell the office, I just heard Noel shout across the office WHAT, WHAT! Noel then came zooming down the yard, he and Seamus had a massive argument, Noel told me to get back in my truck and sod off to Rosslare quick. I think the reason he saved me was I never moaned and was always on time, but I wasn’t going through that ordeal again so I had as much sleep as I needed for the remaining 3 months I was there, I was late for everything but I didn’t so much as scratch the truck again.

Not very nice people to work for but I learnt more in one year working there than some people learn in a lifetime and I’m glad it was my first truck driving job, everything was easy after that.

adding en to a german word is akin to adding s to an english word

wursten und brotchen mit senf bitte

oder bockwurst
