well im learning so much from this thread
welshboyinspain:
never had an interview, rang up and spoke to seamus who offered me a job based on my experience at the time
So how did you hear of the job
welshboyinspain:
most people do a trip then have time off, some do longer stints but not with a week off unless they’ve got a really good boss and there are some that live in their trucks.
But you do get time off right
What about switchlogic dose he live in his cab all the time and never sees his home
welshboyinspain:
as for me i work for a spanish transport company doing steel out of algeciras and usually machinery or something equally obtuse back to andalucia, last week my load from holland was part of a new water slide for aquopolis in sevilla.
removals is too much like hard work especially as tourists are usually back and fore every week or two

Dont you have to speek castellano to work for a spanish firm
Do you still have a home in wales? and where are you now WBS
I didn’t hear of the job I just rang and asked for one.
I get plenty of time off, 3 days after every trip which usually takes about 8 to 10 days.
switchlogic is proud of the fact that he doesn’t have a house his truck is his home.
I can speak castellano and don’t own any property in wales.
are you english? I only ask because I’ve only ever met 1 english person who knows that the spanish don’t speak spanish but castellano and he’s a member on here

So you just found a local Paginas Amarillas and ran all the haulier up untill you found one that would take you on
Where they not funny with you and said we dont employ english people
I am english but my nick name in a bar i was called batista
batista is a famous spanish wrestler en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dave_Batista
so that where the same comes from
So where do you spend your time off then
Rely only been a rigit and white van man myself
So it rely is all word and mouth then untill some Ahole invented the whoppe do CV
Who do nolands employ now then, polish check romanian any other tom ■■■■ with easten euro licnece
But you have not said if you spend the time off in wales or spain
Though its would be a bit nippy for a swim in the irish sea
So where are you now then; outer hebrides, timbuctoo?
welshboyinspain:

Who dose his washing for him on the road
And what dose he do for companionship
I mean are there such gentlemen clubs on route that have ladies of ill repute
Yes I do live in the truck, have done for five years now. I’ve enough clothes to last 3 months. I go and visit parents or friends and do washing then. I grew up in south Wales and like the man says it was all Welsh at one point, my dad worked there and he got me a job. I just rang Virginia and they rang back with a job offer. Certainly doesn’t work that way now though. Back then there was a driver shortage now it’s a job shortage. The only easy way in here now is if a member of your family works here. My Dad does now and my brother used to as well but he likes his home life too much.
Oh and ladies of ill repute are a bit wasted on me I’m afraid…
Though you had gone to bed
How do you get an internet conection when your on the move like that
I have 3 mobile dongle but I think they rip you off when you go out side UK with roming charges
Do you have the same routes evertime on fixed contract or dose the boss send you on all types of one off jobs that get you back to wales now and again
We go wherever we’re told to. And if I want a weekend at home they sort one out for me

I’ve never used a CV in my life, word of mouth plus experience gets you what you want in life
I only go to Wales once a year on holiday to see my parents I live in Malaga
we load for the UK every week but it gets shared out between the drivers so it comes around every 3 months or so and then its birmingham not wales.
I’m currently in the Andamur truckstop Km288 A4 Autovia de Andalucia en route from John Deere Mannheim with 3 tractors, 1 for Osuna and 2 for Huelva then down to Acerinox to load steel coils for probably germany depends on my hours and where I’m going but I’ll probably leave friday or saturday
before you run bent, you need to know the rules and regs.
don’t do what the thick as pig [zb] tossers do. they start a card in the morning, drive until there 9 or 10 hour drive is up, then pull the tooth, run on the wire, or stick a magnet on. only idiots, who deserve to get caught do it this way. you need to plan two days ahead.
WBIS, any jobs down there these days must be well sought after aren’t they ?. I saw the spanish unemployment figures out last week showed 21% now out of work.

if they weren’t so bone idle, then they might have kept their jobs. the companies they worked for, have folded, because they employed bone idle sods, just look at what happened here in the days of the unions, it’s happening in spain. but the thick, idiots can’t see it.

what companies are these then phil that have folded? we’ve still got truck factories, car factories, large transport companies, most of europes fruit and veg comes from here, the biggest steel supplier has europes 2nd biggest factory here? i think if i were spanish i’d be offended by your statement simply in how unaccurate it is, the only things that have shut down are the construction sites and thats mainly because there are no more brits who’ve sold a 1 bed flat in the south east for hundreds of thousands of pounds to come and “live the dream”.
spain has simply imported unemployment when it didn’t require romanians and bulgarians to apply for work visa’s whereas the UK government had the foresight to see that there would be an influx of poorly paid unskilled people who after 6 months basic work can claim benefits as an EU citizen at higher than they would get by working back home
Spot on WBIS. He does come out with some ■■■■■■ It was the politicians, economists, bankers and developers that have screwed Spain not the unions or the working man. Just a shame that they are going to be forced to seek a bail out that will put them in hock to Germany for decades.
with a large percentage of the population being out of work. and the fact that they only work a few hours a day. the spanish are the laziest race in europe.
so if the companies havn’t folded, then they have taken on foreign labour. the reason for this is simple. the foreign labour will do some graft.

i supose you find them to be really hard grafters do you?

no, just the truth.

personally being in hock to germany is a good thing, most of our work goes to or comes out of germany so I’ll be happy doing germany every trip and we’ll get more tourists from germany who’ll want to come and see where there money has gone so the local bars and hotels win!!

The reason they took on foreign labour was because it was cheap and it was available. Spain had a boom and pretty much full employment which was fueled by cheap money and an unsuitable interest rate. Where do you get this few hours a day from ?. What do you think the average working day is in Spain ?. If you think that east europeans work harder than the rest of us, then your a bigger idiot than you first appear. If there all so smart and hard working how is it that there own countries are such dumps that they all can’t wait to leave ?.
