Whats the most?

Used to do Redruth to Honeybourne (other side of Evesham) and back via Plymouth everyday in a 7.5t.
60mph on the dual carriageways and 70 on the M-way was the only way to do it and took the enjoyment out of the job.
Was over 700kms IIRC.

about 820
double Basildon from Coventry
you get back to Watford Gap on a 10

Funny this as my shift from Stranraer to Erith then to Sittingbourne just 2 nights ago was 723kms in a dead 8hr 59m. Thats with a full 26 pallet load of frozen.

two days ago I did 866km.9hrs 52min :arrow_right: lucky

A tadge over 800 kms on a 10 hr through France - anybody that says they have done more legaly in Europe is a kin liar.

looks like im lying as well! :unamused:

And me I’ve done over 1400 k’s legally from Tudela in Spain to Croydon Surrey :unamused:

I used to do 825kms regular, Coventry to Sheerness, tip/load, Sheerness to Sandtoft Tip, Sandtoft to Coventry reload.

In the States I did do 800 miles two days on the trott trying to get back to London , Ontario before Christmas, but it wern’t legal.

For 3 years I used to do 720 km 5 or 6 nights a week trunking double deckers from oldham to livingston. Could only do it every night with either a 580 scania or 580 megaspace. It got a little tedious at times but paid well!!!

As other euro-drivers will confirm, running bent was endemic back in the 1980s on continental work and one-hitting it back from Milan was fairly common (although your tacho would only say 750km  ).

not sure why,but this post makes me smile…ohhh the good old days(even though i never actually drove then and was still probably drinking milk from a bottle!).

From a bottle Buck? I preferred draught.

one day from last trip, on an actros the 10h20 is engine running not driving time as i always need to build my air in the morning, old trailer!!

just to prove that some of us are not 'kin liars as previously assumed :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

What i was trying to say, what with most of Europe having an 80kph limit - on a 10 hr drive, legally the most could do is a tadge over 800 km ffs LEGALLY.The original question was “whats the most kms youve legally done in a shift” wasnt it ?
Like ive said, weve all done more but not legally :unamused:
Theres always some knob that has done Frossinone/ Murcia/ Mars non stop to Calais and tell you about it. Trouble was,he always seemed to be sat at the same table as me when all i wanted to do was was tuck into my gourmet food ala P+O
Seems like not much has changed .
There will always be somebody thats gone further /faster.
Happy days

wasn’t offended just answering your post, this day is legal just like all my days
started at sunbilla so after 30 km of non motorway was peage up through france, nice and easy drive just boring sat at 90 only slowing for the peages and to take my breaks, quite regular to get that sort of figure
its only 80 limit off the peages and even then nobody except the tankers stick to it and even the friendly gendarmes aren’t that strict :imp:

  1. It was on a night shift up to Tesco Livingstone then back down as far as possible. I forget where i started from. Parked up at junction 38 just as the clock ticked 10hrs.

We all earned good in those days, the old bill got their coffee the drivers & company owners got a trip a week in & we got a couple of days home with the wife & kids. The only Eastern Europeans we saw were in Eastern Europe, happy days :open_mouth:

they were indeed, in fact taking in to account inflation etc, etc etc what we was earning then a week translated into todays rates of pay would probably work out about a grand a week these days

now you’ve got me.
why did you have to confuse me with the term “LEGALLY”?

It is easily possible to do more than 800k’s legally like I said

Thats about the furthest i`ve done… legally
Not bad with a channel crossing thrown in
822 km lokeren to carlisle

I did three trips when I ran European time critical operations with Merc Sprinters Redditch, Worcs to Csorba, Hungary (2070km) straight in 15 hours (including tunnel crossing). I wouldnt like to do that now, too fast, especially as I value my family!!!

Bollox! That’s a 95mph average speed if you take an hour out of the 15 to get through the tunnel & you would need a 150 gallon fuel tank to be able to run it straight through, assuming that a Sprinter would drop down to 10mpg at those speeds.
