What would you do?a poll

Personally I wouldn’t call the police, for no other reason that I simply don’t use my phone whilst driving, as put that in the same league of other stupid things to do whilst driving. Am sure they would only be too happy to give you three points on your license for helping them out, as that’s what the mercenary scumbags are like in this day and age.

Phone the bill. One of my close friends nearly lost her life in Kenya due to a drink driver.

I was Stationary in traffic and I did make a point of telling them I was calling from my hands free device.

I think the majority of us assumed it was a hands free call…

you got another piece of scum off of the road. i ask if you heard a girl screaming out help as she was being attacked by a partner or mugged etc, I am sure you would call 999

you see a suspicious person near a school with kids you call the police? of course you would not you are not a “grass” are you.

CKM. what you did was the right thing to do, and i would not hesitate to do so, any truck driver who drinks the night before work is just as bad … back in 2006, my mate had to deal with a fatal accident on the M25 with a truck driver who was over the limit from the night before 2 kids and the parents burnt to death in a car thanks to that scum.

100% report my suspicions - who wants a possible over the limit driver on the road ?

Going through Stafford this morning on the A449, an artic coming the opposite way nearly collided with a large farm vehicle. He wasn’t drunk, but driving one handed as had a mobile phone perched to his ear. That’s something I see everyday, lorries drivers with phones perched to their ears whilst driving, easily spotted as usually all over the place at roundabouts and junctions.

Was on the M6 southbound later this morning, through the 50mph limit between junctions 13 to 12. The ones with the average speed cameras everywhere for miles. We were in lane one at 48mph. Car overtaking us in lane two probably travelling a tad over 50mph, followed by a National Express coach riding two foot from their rear bumper deliberately trying to intimidate them, even though the car was in a line of faster moving traffic. Coach driver probably wasn’t drunk either…

Agreed LIBERTY_GUY, I hate people STILL using mobiles while driving, as there are alternatives…

So the only way I would NOT call the police, is if i couldn’t make the call legally. I’d try to make a note of the registration, but again, not if it mean’t it impaired my driving or concentration on the road.

So what I’m contemplating now, is it still worth calling the police at a later time? (When the call can be made safely)

I think I probably would, as I’d like to think they would keep such reports on record, but don’t expect they do…

Don’t know if you guys are aware that it is perfectly legal to use a handheld mobile to ring 999?

Only in an EMERGENCY, which we all know would a matter of debate… (I wouldn’t chance it!)

I rang 101 in the basis that we were Sat in slow moving/ stationary traffic for as far as the eye could see so no ones life was in immediate danger, the police had a good half hour to get to him before the traffic started to flow.

Using a phone, sat nav or other device when driving - GOV.UK

Yep, fair point mate. I’d happily argue it in court though that this particular instance did constitute an emergency though.

I know what you should do but if I’m honest I don’t know what I’d do ,maybe there is the bit in me I did it years ago ,how the ■■■■ I got as far as the traffic lights ill never know ,but me and kwack kh250 end up in a pile on road ,mates picked me up and I got home somehow ,its embarrassing but I’d be lieing if I said I’d never done it .

…what would you do?

Mind my own, plenty grasses out there(like you), I’m not one of them!

I don’t think he is a grass I would do the same as regards reporting him, what would you say if you saw a drink driver, did not report him then he went on to kill someone further up the road, how would you feel then knowing you could have stopped some innocent dying via a quick phone call to the police,i can only assume you have been a drink driver convicted or otherwise,if you have and you have been convicted then shame on you

A lot of [zb] pots on here, what you never went to work after having a few drinks the night before, well people who don’t drink ok, but people who do shame on you and you probably never gave it a second thought when you did at some time in you life. I agree with the post if you see it and its driving then it should be shot but don’t be a person and say you never had a drink or thought you might be over the limit the next morning and still went to work or drove your car.

nope, hand on heart I have never driven while under the influence, there are allways taxis,i used to be in a houseshare and me and the other lads used to have drinking sessions on a Saturday night, next day I relaxed and never went near my car until Monday,as a hgv driver I know no other way to make a living,if I lost my licence through drink driving I would be screwed and lose everything I have worked for,not worth it

Without a doubt, the dozy one must be freed. That way we can keep a better eye on him!!!

You all presume the police would be interested, I think they would ask you the caller questions that would make you wish you had not bothered

Thank you[emoji16]

I’d be blocking the road, right out the cab and pulling the keys out.

There’s NO EXCUSE!

In 20 odd years of commercial driving i have never been breathalised…

Not once .

Have done 2 drug tests , both with wincanton .

Its about time the government ( by and large a bunch of pizz heads themselves ) made the drink driving limit zero …

And ensured commercial drivers are breathalised at work twice a week .
