Travelled up to Aberystwyth today, then ran the A487 down to Goodwick, did meet several of Mansel Davies motors,my good lady didn’t take many as it was a day out.Did get a few others here and there.
Cheers Dave.
There used to be a Transcon operator Pembrokeshire Sand and Gravel. Can’t remember his name but he used to have a big yank motor Cadillac or some such. Approx late 70’s early 80’s.

hi his name was lloyd jenkins i think.my old man used to drive for him
Rowland, I agree with you there Transcons did look the part especially those Catnic ones that ran at 28,000 kg.
Did you have one of them? I went to look at a T/V reg that was for sale in Llandow, was outbid by one of the Bridgend furniture boys. I often regret not buying it.
hi all, that red & white transcon used to belong to colin & linda wilshaw, from glandwr nr crymych.they sold it to lyn owens from aberporth in 1989 when they bought a brand new f12.
I remember Colin Wilshaw telling me that his Transcon had been breathed on by Bob Clarke who used to have a place in the Melyn, Neath. Somewhere in the region of 400 bhp. Doesn’t sound much these days but in the early 80’s and at 32 tons it certainly used to motor on. Bob had quite a reputation on ■■■■■■■ motors. Any one know what happend to him?
Wasn’t there an outfit called Ironrails in Carmarthen? Don’t think they are still going but seem to remember they used to run Scammel Crusaders and then later on Leyland Marathons…that’s if the grey cells are working correctly.
Yes, Ironrails depot is now under part of the Carmarthen bypass. I think they also ran marathons and I’m fairly certain they once had a Dennison. Green cabs? I think the owner was also a local coal merchant.
