Weekly rest? laymans please!

Hi all, weekly rest is doing my head in. Could one of you knowledgeable souls put it into laymans terms?

What do you mean mate? Donโ€™t you understand what is ment by weekly rest?

You must start 45 rest hours by the end of your 6th 24h period after your last weekly rest.

This can be reduced to 24 hours however the weekly rest before and after must be a full 45 and the reduction must be โ€œpiad backโ€ i.e. the hours ade up by the 3rd week following

So:

Work

Within six 24 hour periods from the end of the last weekly rest period, a driver will extend a daily rest period into either; a regular weekly rest period of at least 45 hours, or a reduced weekly rest period of less than 45 hours but at least 24 hours.

In any two consecutive weeks, a driver shall take at least two regular weekly rest periods, or one regular weekly rest period and one reduced weekly rest period of at least 24 hours.

However, the reduction shall be compensated by an equivalent period of rest taken en bloc before the end of the third week following the week in question.

Where a driver takes weekly rest periods away from base, they may be taken in a vehicle provided that there are suitable sleeping facilities for each driver and the vehicle is stationary.

After 6 work days you must have a weekly rest period of 45 hours.
You can reduce this weekly rest to 24 hours, but can only do this once in any 2 consecutive weeks.
So any week when you take a reduced weekly rest period It must be preceded and followed by a week when you have a 45 hour rest period.

If you reduce the weekly rest period by say 10 hours (example) you will need to add this 10 hours to either a daily rest period or a weekly rest period by the end of the third week following the week when you took the reduced rest period.
