Drivers hours dilemma

Hi, just a quick one. I drove last mon tues and wed. then had at least 36 hours rest at base, then back behind the wheel 10am friday till 10am sunday. (with correct daily rests) Then back out 11am monday morning. When do i need to take another weekly rest and for how long? Thanks

You must start a weekly rest period no later than the end of six consecutive 24-hour periods from the end of your last weekly rest period, which in your case is 11:00 Monday, so you must have commenced a weekly rest period by no later than 11:00 Sunday. It will have to be a regular weekly rest period of least 45 hours.

Incidentally you said you had taken at least 36 hours rest at base but the at base bit is irrelevant these days. There is no difference to the amount of rest you must take based on location. There are only two types of weekly rest now:

A regular weekly rest, which is a period of at least 45 hours.

A reduced weekly rest, which is a period of at least 24 but less than 45 hours.

In any two consecutive weeks a driver must take at least two regular weekly rests or one regular and one reduced.

Last week you took a reduced weekly rest of 36 hours, you should hopefully have taken a regular weekly rest the previous week, so at some point in this week you must take a regular weekly rest, it can start in this week and go into next but can still count for this week. Provided you take at least one regular and one reduced in consecutive weeks you can still take consecutive reduced weekly rests, in effect taking three rest periods during two fixed weeks. This is in fact what you have done when you took the 36-hour reduced rest period followed a couple of days later by the 25-hour reduced rest between 10:00 Sunday and 11:00 Monday. This second reduced rest period only serves to prevent you working more than six 24-hour periods without a weekly rest and therefore keeps you legal.

Thanks for that, had a real blonde moment then, just lost the plot a bit!
