What gives smokers the right to smoke in someone else’s property? If I were shelling out thousands of pounds on equipment. I wouldn’t hire a smoker. Keep your filth in your own lungs.
tbh the 15 minutes is what my company as adopted and any new drivers i take out it is what i advise, however if you think you can do a full walk around vehicle check on a vehicle you have never seen or driven before, bearing in mind it was loaded, in less then 15 minutes?

one company that i pull for allow 15 minutes for the unit and 15 minutes for the trailer
personally, i think it is overkill, especially when the drivers sit in the drivers room for the majority of that time
was it loaded?
i have not read anywhere on this thread to say that the vehicle was loaded, or even couple up to a trailer
it has been confirmed that the OP had 2 deliveries and 2 collections, but, it does not say if the truck and trailer were even in the same yard together

Harrier pilots used to do 142 external checks and 300+ checks in the cockpit and still be off the ground in 5 minutes! According to NG.

vosa justifying their jobs for the boys! A visual ( that’s the clue ) can be done within five mins flat, with lights on, washers, wipers, horn, tax, o licence, tyre tread depths, condition of tyres so MMTM that’s on crossed hammers!
there’s no law wrote down
so that’s the rdc waiting room dealt with!
the op made his choice! ENDEX
Seven pages ■■? wtf FFS!

Some VOSA test stations can give you a full MOT in less than 15 minutes.
there’s no point asking a question if you don’t want honest answers and if he really believed he was fully in the right i doubt he would of asked the question in the first place.
i’m a non smoker and hate the smell, but is the smell of ■■■■ any danger to me like? we’re not talking breathing in smoke. ask the office for some air freshener if it bothers you. we all know it’s usually illegal to smoke in a truck, but the way some people are talking you’d think they’ve never seen a driver smoking at the wheel.
i’m a big fan of exhaust brakes an use them all the time, but if one was u/s it wouldn’t stop me taking a vehicle out
i’m not reading back through 7 pages, did he speak to anybody there about the indicator stalk? as surely one of the regulars / mechanics would’ve pointed out it was the exhaust brake and not an indicator
i,m presuming the vehicle was with trailer and loaded, if it was your regular vehicle and you are the only one driving it and you know your load then yes i can see it being done in under 15, but as a new driver to that truck then if you can do all the relevant checks including checking load in 15 minutes or less then well done, perhaps this is why loads are being lost so regular?
but even 15 minutes for a unit is acceptable to me for a new driver, including filling in his tacho/ possibly agency time sheet/defect book, letting air build up/ defrosting screen/cleaning mirrors lights ect.

agreed, but would they do the test on the vehicle in question in 15 minutes?

can you show me in writing, or post a link that says you MUST take ‘15 minutes minimum’ to do the walk round checks?
When I was led screaming…sorry volunteered , to do a DCPC session, we were told 15mins, and you all know that I consider this valuable piece of legislation essential and correct
(sorry can’t resist it
) so it MUST be right

by all accounts, the OP did none of that

no other first hand accounts are available only gonzo saying is does not think a defect sheet was done…
