Well I’m female and white, but to me this observation of colour and gender specifics in truck drivers is just that, an observation. Colour and gender divides are now old and outdated…things are changing fast, but what matters the most is whether that driver can do the job professionally.
Yep I am white & female so but it is male white dominated simple as that
I reckon one of our drivers is a Jew. We called at his house yesterday for a break.
It was the bog roll on the washing line, and the fork in the sugar bowl that gives it away.
I’m a white HGV driver,I mean I’m white not the wagon,well it is white in places but predominantly it’s yellow and bits of black on it like the wing mirror covers…why are wing mirror covers mainly black,as a white person I find this very racist towards me,how often do you see white wing mirror covers?not very often!Also tyres…they are never white are they,yet again another discrimation against us “whities”,this country makes me sick!

it wasn’t the doogooders that removed gollys from robertsons jamjars…the sootys were coming in and using them as passport photos.

Sit in our canteen for an hour. You’ll soon change your mind 
I went on a training day yesterday. There were about 15 trainee truck drivers there, all but one of which were white men.

Mine has one white mirror cover and one black one (and it’s been like that since I got it)
Bugs the living daylights out of me, but the workshop won’t fix it because it ain’t broken. And before anyone suggests I go find a convenient tree or lamppost, I’m not sure whch sides or colours they’ve got knocking about.

Interesting observation from the O.P…in the 12 years I’ve lived in France I’ve not seen a black lorry driver …a few bus drivers in and around the big cities…
Another interesting observation, I’ve been a biker for over 50 years, didn’t see many black boys riding bikes in the UK, and not seen any over here… Maybe lorries and bikes aren’t what they’re into…

Yes but in this industry discrimination is rife, if you’re anything other than a white man they automatically assume that you can’t drive a truck…

I live in the East Midlands where you rarely see a white woman with a white child…There’s more to the East Midlands than Leicester you know.
I live in the East Midlands and I haven’t been with a black man since 1992.

Whilst out and about I notice:-More female truckers in the West Sussex area.
More black truckers in the London area.
More Immigrant truckers in the England area.
What I don’t see though is Asian truck drivers.Great observations - thanks.

4 black drivers in our depot,2 or 3 asian drivers,and a visiting indian geezer who comes in,has a scottish accent! all c + e drivers. east mids.
wouldnt the indian geezer be scottish ,sounds like he was born there

They are indeed, we live in an extremely racist country and the ethnic minorities tend to stick together they live in the same areas and stick to the same types of business, haulage is a white male dominated game.Picture this, you have a business that produces goods to be moved, you put the job out to tender, one of the firms is run and owned by a British muslim the others are all “British” what is the likely outcome.
The ethnic communities usually stick to cash businesses, taxis, restaurants, car washing hair cutting, they don’t mind a bit of graft and are adverse to paying tax.
I would personally like to see a much more integrated society, sadly sexism and racism seems to be the preserve the masses and those with a particularly low level of intelligence, racism and sexism has absolutely no logic.
the business chooses the cheapest option…stop trying to make race an issue
