I can’t help but chuckle at the irony though when someone who looks like a jihadist with a badge has to buzz me in, myself being considered a bit of a “dodgy-looking geezer” as I am in this area, a white Brit who doesn’t speak the Patois…
I went to visit the Houses of Parliament as a member of the public taking the tour and going to the viewing gallery (needless to say, everyone on that tour had a pale face). On entry I had to go thru the indignity of being security searched by a recently landed African who spoke no English and was useless at her job - to visit the seat of my own government.

Seriously, in the Leicester area - it’s Asians to, indeed, what seems a total shutout of Black Africans. There’s a handful of middle-easterners (none from Syria or Iraq) - but that’s it.
Don’t forget mind, that that when one says “Asian” that it includes Sikhs, Chinese, and Indians. Let’s not assume a “Stereotype” here and consider that they are all Pakistani and all working as Taxi drivers by any means.
If you go to somewhere like Luton Airport (or Brum… Or Kegworth) then there are also Asian pilots too. I’ve not seen a black Pilot even in the movies… C’mon - someone prove me wrong now with a youtube clip! : youtu.be/zXyN_DNWBmE A black pilot!

I, for one - welcome threads like this. It really gets my goat when you can’t say something like “There’s a lot of Asian Taxi Drivers” without being branded some kind of WASP scum for doing so.
Thanks guys - great to have your support. I had to gird myself before posting as I know you can be shot down for even mentioning the obvious nowadays but I thought ‘what the hell, truck drivers are a pretty down to earth lot, they should be able to handle this!’. Looks like I was right, and got some very interesting replies and observations along the way, and a few really funny and harmless jokes too!
an anyone for me the reason that the bbc/media in general only seem to portray the illegal immigrants in Calais etc in a positive manner,and not for the reality vermin/freeloaders/Taliban/spongers/Calais war zone etc that reality dictates for anyone having sat in a queue waiting to go on the train or ferry?..it seems unreal when you watch or read anything about them,and the posts on here seem to portray a different picture that seems more accurate…

To be fair everyone knows that the situation in Calais etc is a lost opportunity to bring in the skilled advanced foreign societies and poulation that we so desperately need.To increase our dwindling population levels and falling labour supply and to improve our stagnating regressive backward society by adding more multi cultural diversity.
Interesting observation from the O.P…in the 12 years I’ve lived in France I’ve not seen a black lorry driver …a few bus drivers in and around the big cities…
Another interesting observation, I’ve been a biker for over 50 years, didn’t see many black boys riding bikes in the UK, and not seen any over here… Maybe lorries and bikes aren’t what they’re into…

Sorry to resurrect this thread after a week but I just had another thought - any Jewish truck drivers out there? I know a Jew who owns a small taxi company that employs a number of drivers and drove for the company himself and I know another one (my landlord) who is a sole trading driving instructor. Trucker is more difficult to imagine, but they might exist!
possibly the empty space where his telly sat before someone nicked it whilst they were waiting to appear on Jeremy kyle…the unemployable watched by the unemployed. …for me,though they are just vermin with 15 mins of misinterpreted glory similar to the big fat members of the travelling community…then personally originating from Glasgow,the Scottish ones are the most painfull to watch (with or without subtitles) is it the same for others when someone appears who lives near you??
there is no shortage of narrow minded jealous sick of their own lives deluded racist truck drivers on this post and i must say not all the posts just the regular dirt bags they know who they are

In the last year I’ve noticed one female and one black truck driver. Every single other truck driver I’ve seen has been a white man. When you walk down today’s streets it feels like we’re a dying breed, but there seems to be an invisible barrier between the general working population and an HGV steering wheel. I notice the same effect if you walk off the streets and enter a museum or art gallery or anything to do with our country’s history. There’s an invisible barrier or force field that only indigenous folk or the odd Asian seem to want to cross. What is it about trucking that puts the other races off? I live in the East Midlands where you rarely see a white woman with a white child so it’s not like I’m in one of those isolated little patches where we still predominate. I’m on the M1, M6, M42, M50 each day and see hundreds of truckers thru the week and the demographics of truck driving are clearly at odds with the world ‘out there’.
Well I’m female and white, but to me this observation of colour and gender specifics in truck drivers is just that, an observation. Colour and gender divides are now old and outdated…things are changing fast, but what matters the most is whether that driver can do the job professionally.
have thought the main thing was…observation or not,but was it an accurate observation? personally I think so…and I would have thought colour and gender divides would be as topical today as they have ever been…theres just less dudes openly admitting to being sexist and racist. ( guilty as charged m`lud ) theres only wifies driving nowadays because the jobs a doddle compared to years ago with the trucks driving like luxury cars…there so easy nowadays that theres even agency drivers driving them…
