Tossco driver hits bridge and gets grassed up lol

The people who filmed this are scum! :unamused: :unamused: :unamused:

some time work for tesco grocery.and move double decker.tesco use double decker just to delivery between warehouse.and every time together with paperwork give full explained paper about direction.and this paper printed not from google map.but explained very, very correctly.in normal sitation drivers must have atlas to check road and sat nav as well because if drivers lost road.,direction by sat nav can much more easy recognize curent possition.but first better stop and check everthink.but this drivers from car … lorry drivers not just lost this job ,but lost any chance found some new job, because if he hit bridge police can give him 3 DD POINT,BUT IF DRIVERS HAVE POINT FOR danger driving ,found new job near not possible

jonnieboy:
Nah sorry guys

If you set off in a decker without a map with bridge heights on you deserve everything you get

first job when some appeared in our yard was yoke one up and run a tape measure up the side then check our routes on a map

He shouldve stopped at the first sign and rung back to base for a proper driver to come out and turn it round for him (there was space just before the first sign on his right )
Or was the bridge going to magically get bigger or disappear :unamused:

I don’t know if he’d realised at this point but I would have seriously considered pulling into the layby on the left and having a bash at spinning it round, even if the trailer goes back 5ft into the hedge there’s not usually any damage caused to the trailer. Although I did this once when I’d taken a wrong turn on a road that looked like it was going to get a lot narrower ahead but the lay-by hedge was very dense and leafy in summer. I later found a post, with a sign one end and a lump of concrete the other, that said ā€˜Ā£250 fine for littering - Leics County Council’ wedged in the tail-lift. I flung it in a ditch in a lay-by in Lincs where it said their fine as only Ā£50 so I saved Leics CC a bit of money there.

I know people are saying maybe his reversing went to pot under the stress but I think maybe poor reversing ability had been the cause of him not turning earlier.

Poor bit of road planning too, I could only spot one place to turn round after the first warning sign and that would have been a bit trick even without a car parked there. If they’d have put a sign before the 50 sign he would have had a chance to back into that nice big driveway, not great but better than trying to back all the way up from the bridge.
As for the schadenfreudig knob, hope he gets his just deserts.

Wouldn’t he have to be a driver himself to have ā€œSchadenfreudeā€?
The speech sounded like the guy was sitting in the passenger seat… So wifey was driving I take it, unless he’s got a LHD car, which I would consider to be ā€œUnlikelyā€ on the grounds of a college accents…

Schedenfreude is what WE would all feel here if the video ended with the helmet driving into a ditch, 'cos he’s too busy paying attention to something he wasn’t willing to prevent.

No schadenfreude is taking pleasure in other peoples misfortune which he is doing, and yes we would all be shadenfreudigs/ers (really don’t know the correct ending for loan words) if he drove into a ditch. It would be hilarious

That’s my point. This is MY ā€œschadenfreudeā€ seeing someone I look upon with derision that goes under the name of ā€œdriverā€ (of the car) come a cropper… :smiling_imp:

As for the agency trucker, I’m thinking he’s well aware he’s on the wrong road by the tentative way he approaches the bridge, praying for a road he can turn around in. At the last minute, he’s probably got going through his head

ā€œHey, some guys in the RDC waiting room said you can get a hightop under a 14’ bridge! - I wonder if i just take it gently… Just pull into the middle of the road… fknows where that guy behind me has disappeared out of view to… Dammit there’s a car coming and I’ve already committed… Oh crap I ain’t gonna make it!ā€

I don’t feel no shadenfreude here, as it’s the kind of ā– ā– ā– ā– -up that all of us should be paranoid about having occur! :frowning:

I’m going to get rattled here but I disagree with almost every post so far lol!!…

To me looks like the only bit of forward planning and hazard perception was done by the bloke filming. (Although having said that by watching the video I think the Tesco driver knew he was high which makes this bridge strike even more pathetic)

Try to warn the Tesco driver that he is over heightā– ā– ?
Don’t make me laugh. I can’t remember how many times I’ve been over height and had a delivery right before a low bridge or better still many old town industrial estates are right by a train station!!
If anyone flashed me to death that I pulled over and HE pointed out to ME how high MY trailer is and what did I think I was doing then I would politely tell him to mind his own business. Ok granted it had Tesco written all over the trailer and there wasn’t a Tesco store around but still a professional driver shouldn’t need telling these things by someone that is not in the industry and is merely a car driver for crying out loud!!

I would have done the exact same thing (except film it), sit back and let the ā– ā– ā– ā– ā–  realise on his own accord (which he did and still hit the [zb])
Most pathetic bridge strike in history, no indication, no hazards, wernt even in the middle of the arch either.

I herd that was Boss & Driver on an assessment drive.

I agree. ā€œDriversā€ like this should never even be given a licence, not even for a car. If you’re too stupid to read the road signs warning of issues ahead then GTF off the road and go and do a job where you don’t have to use your noggin. It’s not like truck driving is a difficult job anyway - just about any muppet can do it.

Tempting as is to whip up all the haters into a lather by saying I wouldn’t have flashed him either, the truth of the matter is that I probably would’ve done as he approached the bridge, and then when he stopped I’d have gone up to his cab and told him in no uncertain terms what a [zb] stupid blind [zb] [zb] he was and now please GTF out of my way so I can get where I’m going.

I think I’ve said the same thing about running over injured, prone bodies in the road that despite putting themselves there, end up being CD80 on your licence when you run them over… It’s times like that you need the ā€œprotectionā€ of a full time job with some kind of Union representation - the kind of job that is impossible to get these days alas. :frowning:

Suedehead:
Tell you what though, that driver will suffer from back problems in later life if he keeps jumping out of the cab like that

Here’s someone else famous for ā€œjumping outā€ that won’t now be getting any work for Christmas either…

Soon to be seen appearing in pantomime . . book early !! :stuck_out_tongue:

Hit the bridge  Didn’t the truck just move forward slowly to see if it was ok?

Surely person who was filming was in the wrong, driving and filming at the same time

driver made a mistake, flapped a bit and tried his luck, unfourtunatly he touched the bridge, he didnt welly it at 50 miles an hour, maybe hes a new guy?..it happens people.

as for the driver behind, well anyone who calls his other half a knob and posts it on internet as well as recording a potential serious accident without trying to warn the driver, well just goes to show what he does in his spare time when he not at home jerking on out over police, camera, action

Hello RobK, I used to like reading your posts, seems lately there aren’t many of them.

MikeC: I respect your authority of admin but, please let me put the photo of ā– ā– ā–  back up. He’s obviously a knacker who wants naming and shaming

I’m thinking (after a few pints of smooth) maybe the driver didn’t want to screw the unit round under the bridge, so that’s why his reversing went south.
Maybe he tried to put a little lock on, but not wanting to screw the unit round in fear of cracking the fairings, he just pushed back, and that’s why he made an arse of it.

Or maybe it’s just the pressure of knowing he’s just lost his job :frowning:

The the most important bit of this story is the bit we don’t have. What happened afterwards and exactly how did the story of the stuck wagon end.Especially if the explanation back at base went along the lines of having seen the advanced warning sign miles before at a roundabout by all accounts and then carrying on in the hope that the thing just might go under the bridge knowing how high it was.Because that was a better option than trying to turn the wagon round at a suitable place because it’s driver was too scared to drive it backwards.Although the inconvenient fact of two big roundabouts,on what seems to have been the route, before reaching the bridge, might have zb’d up that excuse. :open_mouth:

Never done that kind of work but I’d imagine the likes of tesco with a double deck trailer would give the driver a route planner.

The prick who filmed it is getting dogs abuse on YouTube too but keeps deleting the comments, if he thinks it’s bad now wait until the Eddie spotters catch up with him.

xamtex:
i pulled a tesco decker for the first time a couple of weeks ago…you are given a route plan which must be strictly adhered to…you must not deviate from the route without prior permission from the planner…you are forbidden to use satnav…you must follow the planned route.it says this clearly on the sheet,
my insructions were in english? if all instructions are in english only maybe this is the problem?

Remember C5 fascinating documentary ā€œStobart Truck and Trailersā€
Trucking superstar Mark Dixon was given all that and dismissed it as a joke.
Late we were treated to him squealing ā€œturn the camera off turn it offā€ as he got lost and tried to turn round.

Happened to me once asked a fellow driver for directions
ā€œDon’t worry about the low bridge the factory is at the side of it just keep cracking onā€
Me reversing back through a handy car park and then ringing mate to explain my predicament
ā€œOh I always come in from the other directionā€

My favorite car drivers filming (stay to the end)

More proof that posession is 9/10ths of the law. Take the camera, edit out the registration plate, post it on utube, no comebacks except making the rednecks look like pricks.

what a pair of grassing morons, and ringing 999 saying its an emergency!!!

the guys got it on his facebook page, saying how it makes him laugh.
