Muckaway:
From Bubbleman, I’d guess this was taken at Smiths Concrete, Hardwick.

Rumours that it was powered by a 240 Gardner are as yet unconfirmed

Uncle Allan said this had a ■■■■■■■ 220, and this wagon spent most of it’s time on Blackthorn Premix

Is that the twisting saleman with the tie on

He couldn’t tell who that was, although Godfrey Smith used to take wagons out for promo shots. No truckers tat in sight either

Not all gaffers I’ll have you know Dave!!! Anon!

And on the subject of tat, I’ve heard stories from years back when drivers’ nameplates were not allowed. Don’t know if this was true but many years ago, a driver was told off for advertising the Oxford Mail because he was seen with a newspaper in the window :open_mouth:

I went fishing tonight with a bent pin and a worm, and guess what.I had a bite straight away :exclamation:

bubbleman:

This lorry went in last week to get a new headlamp bulb, and as the cab was being lifted a creaking was heard with a bit of resistance. It was left in gear :open_mouth:

Would this by any chance be your motor Nathan? and your only “kidding” us that you drive a “big one”!!! By the way how’s the “little fella’” doing? Thriving we hope!!! has he learned to say F-o-d-e-n yet, before he can say “daddy” Cheers Dennis.

Callums’ doing well thanks Dennis. Just gone to sleep as I finished feeding him, he wakes for a feed within half hour of me needing to get up for work (and thats it for night feeds!) Re the wheelbarrow, no it’s not mine “Father” Ted Saxton drives that, or he was until the cab incident. He had mine for a day last week when I was off and is now driving the showpiece 4w Volvo as Pete’s off with a broken foot. Rumours he did it tripping over a can of Mr Sheen are unconfirmed

Smiths have been flatout the last few weeks (so much for a contraction in the industry), and they’ve had about 10 subbies or more a day on for us recently. Ardley has been probably the busiest quarry, supplying stone to the large new housing site in Bicester and a gabion contract in Crick near Stobarts. We’ve had to hire artics from R Addams and AW cleaver to cope with Smiths Concrete running flatout at Banbury and Blackthorn plants as 2 of our artics are regularly pulling flatbeds on agg-bag haulage to garden centres and merchants. Still, yours truly’s making a good few sheckles out of the bonus scheme (been running out Faringdon way and backloading sand from Kempsford as Gill Mill is running low.

Good on ya Nathan, glad to hear some one’s making some money. The quarries this way have been busy, their regulars are busy, also a hell of a lot of artics backloading from them, whether the rates are any good is another matter.
R Adams have some smart motors.
Cheers Dave.

Even the private deliveries have picked up Dave; done 2 today and 1 yesterday I guess the good weather’s had a lot to do with it. There are rumours amongst drivers (so take with a pinch of salt) that more lorries are coming end of year to replace the Y regs, and supposed to be some new quarry plant on order too.

I suppose if they are doing well, they have to plough money back into the business to keep it out of George Osborne’s mit’s.
You will have a few more Daf’s or Merc’s around the place Nathan.
Cheers Dave.

I’ve heard MAN 8wheelers and Daf 6wheelers :imp: If that’s true, I’ll ask to have an 8legger; there’s no way I’ll take driving a CF cab for another 6 years…Apparently, MAN don’t do the engine that’s fitted in the 8ws available for 6ws and you have to have a smaller motor.
