.

Hey M/AWAY , you cant have a new truck because you dont wash enough , :unamused: , one day you might see me on my van .

Muckaway,

Local television coverage of Smiths yesterday ,never got in at the beginning so not quite sure what it was all about, saw some trucks and mentioned giving room to cyclists ,can you tell us more ----toshboy

It was a cyclist/lorry driver awareness day in Oxford. Our TM took one of the new motors to let the cyclist understand how difficult it is to see them on the nearside and to showcase the “blindside cameras” all our new lorries will come with. From what TM told Dad today, they’re looking into more replacement wagons all with auto boxes-to Dads’ disappointment as he was hoping his 02 reg unit would see him through to retirement in 3 years.
Jakey; If I wash my lorry regularly, I’ll get a new Daf

The last working 4000 series; Until last night it was Jim Tarrys’ wagon (had it from new :open_mouth: ) and from today is a yard spare. The W reg that I’ve taken several pics of has now been withdrawn and I think this one will be in the next couple of weeks

Hi Nathan,
10 years is good service for a tipper,a lot of drivers think Foden’s are not as good as Scania and Volvo, but there are quite a few around here that wish that Foden were still in business.
Cheers Dave.

That V reg hasn’t cost them as much as some of the newer ones, Dave; I think it’s had 2 clutches in all that time and done over 800,000km. The Cat engine uses little or no oil either.

This is very true Dave, I’ve never had one but plenty round here mourn the loss of Foden. Bloke round here has had Fodens all his life told me when they announced they were closing Foden.

“Foden is like a Saville Row suit, you get them tailored to suit you. I suppose I’ll have to buy ‘off the peg’ from now on!”

When you think about it, he’s right. Foden you could pick the bits you want. Even if you took 90-100k to Volvo/Scania/DAF these days you are still restricted to what you could have. :frowning:

Muckaway at Burford Priory

It’s been bought by the daughter and son in-law of a well known tycoon who shall remain anonymous except that you’ve probably bought one of his publications (NOT THE SPORT)
What the Times forgot to mention is that it’s one of Burfords’ most haunted buildings-a ghost armed with a blunderbuss is said to walk the grounds and a bell is said to ring at 2am although the bell’s clapper has been removed. This bit (the clapper) is definitly true as I’ve seen it

JAKEY:

The “New Spare”; was based at Broadway Pit (which has only a few weeks left depending on stock/orders)

bubbleman:

Complaints have started to surface regarding these; Crap at pulling away (autos) and not as easy to drive/reverse on the tip… :unamused:

I didn’t think your men would like them. Autos are only any good for driving on the Road in my opinion, I have an Opitcruse and that ent much good at that.
