Muckaway:

This old girl will be going soon; Whoever buys this’ll get a good motor.

Muckaway:

Don’t know if it’s right or wrong  but when I started driveing benders ( a few years ago   ) I was told never to tip like that, in case one went over. as you then buggered up 2 trucks, and maybe hurt or killed the next one’s driver.

Muckaway:
Davey, I did it for a 3 month trial period which to my understanding was A-If I was no good I’d go back to tipper driving, and B- I could go back if I didn’t feel it was working out. If I had to drive an old nail then fair enough (there isn’t a nail really on Smiths, a 10 year old Smiths wagon looks and drives better than others half their age).
One good thing though is that my time off the road has given me back my enthusiasm for the job; If the time comes I might even dig my old flags and tassly bits out of the loft and stick them back in!
If I have to drive a Daf CF I might search Ebay for some Leyland badges…
:grimacing:

Muckaway,
3 month ago I gave away a badge off the grill of my dads 1973 bison.
The little blue one ,that would of looked well on one of your dafs .

BanburyDan:
Hope it works out mate, nothing worse than being stuck in a job you don’t enjoy. I noticed the ladies Hi-Viz was very clean…

All new company uniform mate; It looks alright to me but a good few drivers are moaning like hell over it; “I’m not wearing that crap, blah blah plus swear words etc”
If they don’t like it they should give me their keys and I’ll wear it…
The complete hi viz gear would be greatfully appreciated, cycling to and from work in the dark.

I was talking with my boss recently about the company colour scheme, he was on about getting some new trucks and I said I thought they would look good in black with white writing, rather than black on white which sort of blends in a bit. Anyway, he says our company colours are white and lilac (the lorries all have the back 1/4 of the body in lilac and across the back). I said well, the writing is black, its the same colours, and our uniforms are black. “Ah, but you wouldn’t want to wear a white uniform”. It actually wouldn’t bother me in the slightest, and if some folks left because of it I might get a decent route to do… :stuck_out_tongue:

John, you’re right in that; Hansons’ employ this rule. You can’t drive past an artic tipping in the premix bays at Lechlade if an artic’s tipping.
I wont load alongside an artic if it’s tipping.

Daveymk; In response to your pm question, Dads’ Scania is the only one on the fleet.

Ok Nathan,
It will be tomorrow afternoon by the time I load and get down there so I will keep an eye out for it …

Thought I’d post this link as I’ve not had chance to photograph the new 6w yet…

From Commercial Motor.
I put 14600 on it. :open_mouth:

Taking some of that pig iron off the side of it might help.

That’s what many of us have said, Hammer. In fairness, it’s very flimsy metal, tje auto tailgate must add 150kgs to it. That’s the large cab as normally fitted to 8wheelers. CW Knight have the smaller engine/cab varient with an alloy body and I can just get 16800 on but that body doesn’t look too strong when loading it.

Good luck to The Boy who left Smiths on Friday for pastures new… And might end up towing sone of our motors back to Enslow.

Good luck to the boy , has he gone on kardoss ? , bet he left his truck nice for the next driver ?

Yes he has, driving the Daf 95 tractor unit.

Found this on the 'net; I think it was a promo photo for either MAN or the tipper builders.

I can see why you want to get back behind the wheel Nathan.A couple of smart wagons.

Dave, I’d love the 56 reg 6w currently without a driver since he got the new MAN shown in CM. That 56 reg has to be one of the very last 6w Fodens built?

…Or even my old 54 reg: Only once did it have a breadown that I couldn’t get it back to the yard (broken diff). Once I got it back from the M5 up Birdlip with 2x bolts sheared off the gearbox all the way to tip at Ducklington, then empty to the yard.
Had the header tank spring a leak at Mickleton one day, with a gallon can and a few water stops at various churchyards en route managed to limp home also.

You will have to grovel to your TM Nathan.
Cheers Dave.

Nathan , why dont you ask your dad to have a word , he has been there years , his word must count !
