I like S&S ether side of the Scania badge as well. I do need my glasses to see the Smiths above the windscreen though.

I think the sunvisors should have the old “Smith and Sons” or “Smiths Haulage”; a bit of a throwback to the good old days.
If and when I go back on the road I’d love one of the Fodens with a plain sunvisor to to give it the vintage treatment… :sunglasses:

Nathan , glad your dad is enjoying his new Scania , pity they didnt have his old truck and new truck parked next to each other for the key handover .

I don’t think they’re sentimental enough for that Steve; I think I’ve put a pic on here with my Alpha brand new, next to my old 4340.

Yes I think that would be better as I don’t think that small sign is a lot of use.

They should name all the trucks again with the “Enslow” prefix like they did in the '70s and early '80s aswell. “Enslow Leader” for the Scania, with it being the first?

How about the MANs being named…
Enslow Tiger, Enslow Leopard…
. . Enslow Panzer.

Nice shot Nathan , how is phil getting on with his mightey M A N ?

He’s off at the moment but he was doing ok I gather.
The idiot sensors (for cyclists coming up the inside) need adjusting on the Scania; Spray was setting them off yesterday. The mirrors were unaffected.

That CF does look tidy! (biased? me? )

As said before, good to see a company still applying paint to trucks!

Andrews truck always looks smart even when its dirty , bet the cab is mint .

Hey Nathan, since when did your lot have young ladies driving your lorries? I thought I was going senile today when I spotted on in Banbury…!

That’ll be Stacey; She drives what was my lorry. Me, I’m still stuck in the quarry but I know at least one employee who wants my job on the shovel, it’s a case of will I get off the poxy thing?
When I finally do, I’ll hang the shovel keys up for the last time…

Or this is not on,how embarrasing,Nathan gets slung off the Tippers and back into the Quarry in preferrence to a “bird” been given the “drive” on his motor!!! I know they are a load of Wimps “darn sarf” but this is taking the “the ■■■■” big time!!! Of course it may just have been a “blow up bird” propped up in the drivers seat !! Well they are a bit peculiar in D. Cameron country !! Where’s the sheep, fetch my Wellies Chap !!! Anon 1.

Hope it works out mate, nothing worse than being stuck in a job you don’t enjoy. I noticed the ladies Hi-Viz was very clean…

All new company uniform mate; It looks alright to me but a good few drivers are moaning like hell over it; “I’m not wearing that crap, blah blah plus swear words etc”
If they don’t like it they should give me their keys and I’ll wear it…
The complete hi viz gear would be greatfully appreciated, cycling to and from work in the dark.

Don’t know what went worng there ,so here’s the rest lol…
Northumberland and 20 year down the road I would go back on one tomorrow ,no hassel and in your own cot

Davey, I did it for a 3 month trial period which to my understanding was A-If I was no good I’d go back to tipper driving, and B- I could go back if I didn’t feel it was working out. If I had to drive an old nail then fair enough (there isn’t a nail really on Smiths, a 10 year old Smiths wagon looks and drives better than others half their age).
One good thing though is that my time off the road has given me back my enthusiasm for the job; If the time comes I might even dig my old flags and tassly bits out of the loft and stick them back in!
If I have to drive a Daf CF I might search Ebay for some Leyland badges…
