The weekend?

We had a thing at our place where they wanted people to come in to start before 4am, all the old-heads wisely told the office UNLESS they paid people extra to stuff off! This is why it’s always been 4am or later. It sucks in some ways as you hit traffic sometimes by the time you get going on the motorways etc, but the wisdom of ‘pay us extra for working an early bird shift or forget it’ isn’t bad either.

A bit confusing that, or maybe it’s my head at this hour, is this at Heathrow for the no-longer quick passport check? AFAIK it’s now quicker as the EU countries have their own little section and the UK citizens have our main E gate thing which is fairly prompt.

There is a way to get in quick at Thai passport control but it involves buying a very expensive visa which expires after 5 or 10 years.

The con was at the time ‘things will get leaner in the short-term but better in the long-term’ but looking at it now if that’s the case it seems like the only richer people will be those in the city of London inner zone at the expense of the rest. We got our blue passport back, but when are the fishing rights coming our way etc? The uk currency is weaker now, arguably since post WW2 era.

I’ll be lucky if the currency is worth anything when i retire.

The Tories took us into the Euroland scam. The Labour Party were majority against it.

Callaghan imposed it on his brighter, much brighter in the case of Peter Shore, Eurosceptic rebels, in the interests of European Socialism.

Which meant British cash and oil and gas and fish and jobs and industry to the benefit of German bankers and workers.Turning our economy into an IMF bail out basket case and imposing a below inflation wage regime hitting the lowest paid hardest.

Who needs Tories.

This weekend I R be mostly clearing out the tomato, chilli, bell pepper & cucumber plants that have now finished from both greenhouses & cleaning the inside glass with bleach/soap. Then I shall be digging in chicken manure, cow manure & seaweed fertiliser into the beds ready for next season.

I queued for an hour at Schipol border control to leave the airport , for an hour with all non eu passport holders, like i have done at Frankfurt, Lisbon and other EU countries the last few years since brexit. Left Birmingham airport through E-gates in minutes,

Anything for the weekend? You bet, I’ve just made some big pork pies & put them in the oven, they will get injected with pork gelatine when they’re cooked. A box of 12 Henry Weston vintage cider arrived today too, just in time for the Leigh Leopards game against Wakefield tonight. I was born in Leigh, so always followed them. A win tonight will be a semi-final match against the pie-eaters Wigan.

Retirement is so good, it’s unbelievable, I can do all my hobbies & more & not answer to anyone…… unless the missus reads this :slightly_smiling_face: we’ve been married 52 years so it goes in one ear & straight out the other.

I’ve been a keen gardener all my life & had greenhouses, it was hard being away for most of the week in the lorry when summer started, And the watering schedule I gave my missus went out the window, I usually came back to tomatoes that took up so much water they burst on the vines, Missus just watered them with the hosepipe  :frowning:

All was good though as they went into making pasta sauces for the freezer. I think I missed my vocation in life as a produce grower, It’s something I’ve always done.

Pork pies injected with pork gelatine & in the fridge.

Took daughter fiesta vignale into garage for her as she’s at work today ( my weekends Fri / sat ) , £395 for service / mot , it failed mot on adaptive lights ( sensors apparently ) £595 , from tires 75 % worn so 2 New Cross climates at £198 a piece

Thanks dad I love you !!! I was under the impression I was just taking the car in for her not paying for it as well , at least the garage washed it / vacuumed it which saved me my normal job , fence painting sat

On.a 4 day long wk.end type break with my lovely Mrs until back home Mon am.

Had a day at York today, wife went shopping I went '‘Spoons hunting ’ had a couple of pints of Guinness whilst dipping in and out of Trucknet and playing ‘On line Scrabble’ with Holly Willoughby.:joy:… ‘whupped her sweet ass’’ (just give me a minute to hold that thought )

So back to apartment now, waiting for Mrs to make the tea.

I’ve never understood why when the fence belongs to next door the don’t have to stain both sides , bloody soul destroying job

You tight sod rob , you’d of thought you’d let the mrs off cooking and washing for you by taking her out for a nice meal , even I do that now & then ha ha

Yeah horrible job…
Don’t buy one of those spray guns mate…they don’t last.
Better with a big brush slapped on

That’s what I use rob ( brush ) , but get board easily so few slats , wander off , few slats , rinse & repeat , mrs , haven’t you finished yet , ha ha

I aint daft, I picked the right time she’s on one of her ‘‘model style starvation diets’’ , so she doesn’t want to go out for a big meal …she does this every 3 or 4 months…it s what she does.
So no drinking either, so I get taxied to and from pub.

1200 quid to MOT a Fiesta lol. They saw you coming

Shocking md especially when it’s not your car , but I blame the daughters boyfriend as he said get the car , because it had all the bits , including adaptive led lights ( normal lights seem good enough to me ) , a normal fiesta would of done her & the worst would it was of cost apx £10 for a headlight bulb

Tires the same , he picks the vignale with the 18 inch wheel instead of some 16/17 inch that cost more when it needs tires .

We dropped my 80,000 mile 17 plate focus off Thurs night to be motd yesterday & other than the price of the mot cost nothing
