What are your plans for the weekend? Mind you, every day is a weekend when you’re retired, the first job for me is a weekend fry-up, It’s a treat once in a while.
I’ll be planting out some onion sets & harvesting some more bell peppers, potatoes, tomatoes, French beans, cucumbers, chillies, melons & grapes from one greenhouse & giving lots to family, friends & neighbours. This hot Summer has been fantastic, with bumper crops this year. Fresh food doesn’t get much better.
Pottering around house this morning and then going round a mates and going to Ringwood race way to see 20+ caravans being destroyed
as for tomorrow who knows as got the whole week off
Spent today on daughters car , polished inside / out & cleaned engine bay , wheels are really annoying me as there polished but are turning grey ( centre of rear ones more than anything , and then had a couple of hours out on bike .
Into yard this morning after 2 weeks off on the sick (had a minor eye procedure done and told to stay off for 2 weeks…unexpectedly )
Called in to survey ‘‘the damage’’ to my motor, and put all my kit in, …I decided to start back in Mon for a full week shift…Mon instead of usual Wed start as no pay for 2 weeks due to type of firm I work for.
Did not have to, but thought I may as well as I was offered a good run.
Pleasant surprise motor interior left tidy, not as spotless as I left it, but acceptable.
Into Aldi with the Mrs for food for my fridge, toyed with the idea of going to watch England game in Spoons, but wife promised me a half time pizza so I got a case of beer in Aldi instead and headed home…had too many ‘‘pub days’’ already lately.
Back home, watched the game, we won but it wasn’t pretty, World Cup next year, we’ll need to up our game to match top sides, but there ya go.
Game finished, sat chilling with Mrs now, she’s fast asleep on sofa, …having a quiet night in together
watching stuff recorded on Sky plus…that new Sheridan Smith drama for starters with a few coffees, and psyching up ready for a start back at work, so a quiet Sunday in store I reck.
So not a typical weekend for me.
And finally mrs has got her nhs pension after nigh on 7 months of messing about so she wants us both to retire , so started clearing out all my lorry stuff , box after box of straps / ratchets & protectors etc , I’ll never use it again so seems a shame but will most likely end up down tip
Or car boot sale, e.bay or Gumtree?..seems a shame to hoy them.
Or do what I did with mine when I packed in on my own, head down to local transport firm for a bit 9f beer money.
Hope none of them have Eddie Stobart printed on them btw.
All yer A to Zs will be out of date now.
I found mine that my daughter had written in as a very young kid on trips away with me …she has kids of her own now.
I got to stage I couldn’t read them anymire anyhow…needed longer arms.
No, I’m lucky in that I have big gardens. I did put my name down with the council about 5 years before I retired at 65 for the local allotments near me, when I retired & phoned to see whereabouts I was on the list, I was told I was still 51st in the queue.
They’re way oversubscribed across the country & could do with more land set aside for them rather than the idiotic banning them.
How do I keep my lisense lancpudn , I brought the 400cc not the 1000cc ( hard to believe but it is only a 400cc ) , it will break the speed limit but you have to work a lot harder on this to get there , revs to 16,000 rpm
It’s a toy to be honest , just for a play on now & them , though I’ve done 3,000miles in 5 months
