Tesco s ...... soon to be run by stobart s?

If you call pulling 45 cages off a trailer hard work then so be it, thats bearing in mind that you have a 13 mt trailer. Whats hard about reloading with empty silvers or RSU. You call a few cages full of bear or canned goods heavy" the majority is bog roll, chocs and crisps.

If you don’t call £20+ an hour on a leisure week big bucks then what is.

What about the poor old back door man who has to push the emptys,in some stores, up hill onto your tail lift. But then its hard work pulling them off the lift, then pressing the down button.

Mind you, if you are 18 stone then climbing the steps to the wagon would be hard work. Before you start putting your mouth into top gear read the part where I said that i have nothing against “Tesco Drivers”.

I do have some knowledge about the job, and , believe me, it,s a piece of ■■■■.
The hardest part of a Tesco job is finding some of the stores then getting on the bay.

Tesco drivers have one big enemy, their unions…(make that two) greed.

I still fail to see your problem MIKE C.

Unless Tesco got rid of some dead wood…I await your ■■■■----ing crap filled response while I drive a white Axor tomorrow and hold you up doing 30mph. Yes I do drive at 30, love being paid by the hour for your blue and white mates.

Ok granted its not the hardest of work, but the point i am trying to make is that its just a days work, its not particularly harder or easier than other driving jobs.
The problem is when you say they have it easy, and not just you lots of people whinge about them saying they do this and they do that and won’t do this or that and its almost like a jealousy thing or something? It looks like Middlewich are all being forced to transfer over to Stobarts now, so some will go from a contracted 37.5 hours a week and now have to work for Stobarts doing whatever Stobarts tell them, and on a less hourly rate? And people are like…they’ve had it too easy for long etc…working guys actually sort of gloating?
They make Margret Thatcher look like one of the samaritans !! Tesco is one of the biggest and most profitable companies in the country, if you worked for them you would expect your conditions to get better surely, not worse?
Tescos treat all drivers like they treat their suppliers. They’re great at somethings but nothing to do with lorriy drivers!!.
Anyway, if you’re helping my mates in blue and white out, you know what your problem is don’t ya? You’ve got it to easy !!

Ok granted, its no harder or easier than other driving jobs i suppose. But when you say they have it easy and suggest they milk the job, and loads of drivers you can hear saying the same thing, its almost like they begrudge someone having a good job or summat. Now Middlewich looks like its all being transfered over to Stobarts, the Tescos guys will probably come off their contracted 37.5 hrs and have to do whatever Stobarts tell them. And some ordinary working guys are happy about this (i’m not saying you are or not). They make Margret Thatcher look like one of the samarians!! If i was working for one of the biggest and most profitable companies in the country i would be looking for an improvement in my working conditions, not losing any surely?
Anyway, if you’re helping my mates in blue and white out, i know what your problem is. You have it to easy !!

I will say it again “I have nothing against Tesco drivers”. They way Tesco is treating their staff is shocking to say the least, it was not so long ago that they made a lot a warehouse staff redundant and then brought in bus loads of foreign agency workers to do the job.

Its all about money and making more money, and transport does not make money for Tesco, it only costs them. The latest rumor going around today is that Tesco owns a big part a Stobarts, who knows.

I feel for the drivers at Middlewich the same as I do for those in Livingston.

I don’t help Tesco out, by the way, I go there and take their money for very little effort on my part, the worst part is that they get it back the week after, the wife loves shopping in Tesco.

Double post,sorry again.

Double post, sorry.

STOP PRESS…

“SOME” Middlewich drivers are moving to Fradley in the very near future [WK 3 IIRC], the electronic notice board ask`s that they are made to feel welcome…

If Tesco are so paranoid about profit, why were over 60 units parked up last night, and, ESL had 6 units / drivers awaiting jobs ■■?

This does not make sense to me, its the same at the week end, ESL had 7 units on sub-con from “In Transit” from Coventry, who had to come solo from Cov., aswell as their other subbies, and their own units, which were too many to count…

I wanted to work on sunday, but, was told there was no work available ■■?

I ended up elsewhere, which was even more of a doddle than Fradley…

I did 82 cages over two stores yesterday, not an aching bone the old bod, its so ■■■■■■■ easy…

In reply to Mike-c, yes we Middlewich drivers are being forced to transfer to ESL very much against our wishes, the only good point is that we are protected under TUPE law wich means our T&Cs remain protected,
so still 37.5 hr week and still the same pay rates, But hey if some drivers on here thought we had it easy before its even easier now because everyone is not bothered about Tesco any more and we are just waiting for ESL to confirm the changes they want to make ie, Tramping, 15hr days, reduction in hourly rate etc, then all the Tesco drivers will take the 90 days and then decide to take the promised redundancy package .

Tesco are a load of meglomaniacs, pure & simple :exclamation:

They wont lose there jobs, they have 2 choices, either transfer or do the other.
The above quote wasnt really in reference to the drivers livelyhoods, it was more in regards to uneducated dicks, like your good self, talking out of your chocolate starfish!

No its a hen :open_mouth:

Dear oh dear, you lot are excitable aren’t you :unamused:

Does it really matter what it says on the door of the truck, TUPE means your T&Cs stay the same, do you really think that because you work direct that you are somehow held in higher regard than the rest of us :smiling_imp:

One good thing, I don’t think there are as many poles or agency drivers on ESL as there are on Tosscos so at least you’ll be able to talk to your fellow drivers, when you stop looking down your nose at them, that is :bulb:

If you want to get your own back tell your missus to shop at Asda or Sainsburys, you do wear the trousers, don’t you

In effect, if they dont want to accept the terms and conditions Stobarts will be putting on the table, which will no doubt be worse, then they can take redundancy, which equals no job.

You know nothing about me apart from what you read here, so if you wish to think of me in that way thats up to you and I will lose no sleep tonight over it.

Why you feel the need to insult people for no apparent reason may just be due to your mental age, but feel free to do so if it makes you feel better.

Now i’m not slagging off Stobarts, i’ve worked there lots and i liked it. But, it is long days, ok no problem thats what you expect. I was reading on the verylittlehelps forum (and i could of predicted this to happen) that some Tescos guys where waiting outside a store to tip and a ESL driver comes up and wants to jump the queue because he is going to run out of hours and he only has 6 cages on !!! There’s quite a lot of ESL driver who do not want to be doing store deliveries. It could well be worth slashing a Stobarts curtainsider now to see what he has on, as we now know they are carrying more than paper reels and empty cans? Just a thought!!! But i predict lots of fun to come !! And wait till it hits the mainstream news, you know all the sort of stuff no one wants to know…“Tescos delivery drivers have to do 65/70 hours a week to get groceries to the stores”, that’ll just go down great with their 'investor in people ’ status.
To be a succesful retailer they key is not to exploit your own people but get your suppliers to exploit theirs !!!

Made redundent by Tesco last sept. Several of my mates are now at Lichfield.Tesco has offered them double their redundancy packages to go because they are paying them too much on a retained pay scheme that they came up with. Most of us left crick with a smile and a skip in our stride and to be honest the only thing i miss about the place is a good crowd and the scams the drivers came up with to work less for more pay. Every little helps if you ask me…Scott

Thanks for that Scott, sort of backs me up a bit. At the end end of the day a lot of people are going to be worse of by the aggressive way Tesco is treating it’s staff. Stobarts drivers aint going to be happy doing store deliveries and ex Tesco drivers aint going to be happy tramping and doing store deliveries for less money.

There is some thing bigger going on here and I bet we will see a reduction in the rates agency drivers will get as well. Never mind, the eastern Europeans will have more work. (Note, I have nothing personal against foreign workers , apart that they drive our wages down.).

MikeC, glad you are not the sort to take offense, my apologies, a few to may.

For what it is worth, I do not think the general public will give a dam about drivers until it affects them directly, ie, in the pocket.

Tesco’s new deal BODGOF.

tesco has always had some subbies
Glass Glover {wincanton} used to do Middleton
Exel did Doncaster
but it will be a change of policy for the same subbie to do all depots cos that will leave them open to effective strike action
