What these companies rely on when ’ telling you how it is ’ is that most will just accept it and move on… Without challenging it. The government changed the TUPE law in 2006… if they offer you a new contract you can say NO, if they give you notice, redundancy rules apply They cannot employ anyone to do that job for 12 months.

Problem is, Tossco have seen the savings by contracting the distribution out, so they’ll just get someone else in not take it back in house. Yes, damage can be done by some drivers, butwho pays the bill? not Tossco, they just invoice the haulier. its a win win for Tossco.

Nowhere near a record there was one 7 yrs old a couple of weeks ago that suddenly made a come back .

I got told then dad said to me the Tesco own 50% of stobart,
Just wondered if any ones heard, about Stobbies takin over Tesco Store Deliveries…■■?
Or is it old News ■■?
Saw a couple of Stobby’s in Halifax today pulling tesco trailers, incidently one had no trailer lights , did have hazards going on tractor though
Nothing new I’m afraid.Stobbies have been pulling Tesco trailers for about 18 months now.
Ken.
Yeah i seen em pullin Tescos trailers here and there… im talkin about stobbies takin over ALL the tesco store deliveries…
I Was talkin to Tescos bod today thats the word on the ground ■■?
all i know is that when they built the new Fradley depot stobarts put in an application for 50 units and 200 trailers
the rumours are that they are moving all the express store deliveries to this site once they have a freeze capability
i would not be surprised if stobarts take this as after talking to tesco drivers in the past the one thing their cushty contracts don’t ask them to do is anything like work
what you have to ask is this the thin edge of a very profitable wedge with stobarts taking more and more of the tesco work in a depot by depot way
i saw this many years ago when i was a machine driver for the council the council tried to modernise working practices and failed due to uinion and old contracts .
the up shot was they let the contractors take the contracts for 4 years get rid of the dead wood change the pay and working structure and then changed the tendering so it was neigh on impossible for them to keep them
t.u.p.e agreements only can so far in keeping your rate and benefits if the New employer really wants to change it ( I’m not sure but i think they only have to offer you your new contract three times and after the 3rd time you don’t accept and sign you have deemed to have refused an offer of employment and put yourself out of work NO redundancy No benefits/dole YOUR insurance for your mortgage will not pay out )
the writing has been on the wall for a long time for the likes of tesco and sainsburys drivers .
make hay while the sunshines because theres a big cloud on the horizon and its got a green livery
