Tattoos, do you have any? Your views on them RE work

If it’s not Summat id recommend my kids to do then I tend to stay clear, i wouldn’t promote theiving, lieing, taking drugs, smoking, etc etc etc

And doubt I’ll ever say to my daughters “you know what would really do u some good, get some stars on your neck and a bow on your foot, oh and why your there have a Chinese symbol on your back that most likely doesn’t translate to some “live long” Chinese proverb but actually says chicken fried rice”

This thread has prompted me to get a very small discreet tat done on my face, you may have to look hard to even spot it!

I personally wouldn’t have them, as I can’t see the point of them. But its up to the individual if they choose to have them, the same as drinking and smoking, religion and politics.

Don’t have any - have thought about it, but I’m a wimp! Don’t mind them on other people, as long as they’re not offensive or spelt wrong! Think they can look very ■■■■ on girls, when done in a tasteful way.

Don’t have one, will never have one, I stopped drawing on my arms when I was 6, a bit like murals on lorries, I can’t stand them either. Funniest one I heard about was someone who had 2 letters tattooed, one on each bum cheek, it said WOW…

Or ‘your name’ ba dum chi

I vaguely remember a 1970’s joke about a tattoo on a certain part of somebody’s body which sometimes read “Wendy” and at other times read “Welcome to Jamaica, have a nice day”. :stuck_out_tongue:

Just wondered whether any of you fine people have tattoos and your opinions of them within the workplace? Do you have any? Have they ever been a hindrance as far as getting work as a driver has been concerned? I myself have a fair few and will be getting many more to come (including a full head piece) I already have the likes of hands, knuckles, sleeves and throat and work for a large company but have never had any issues with work in logistics (hoping to move to driving soon)! A friend of mine however has even had issues finding work just for having a small wrist tat  . I just find it funny how work varies and wondered if any of you carried ink? Be interesting to hear!

I have a small homemade tattoo on my left forearm. Its just smacks “home made”. You look at it and think…“misspent youth” !
I’d now rather i didn’t have it but its there so i don’t worry to much about it as i can’t or won’t change it. For me, tattoo’s spellout individuality etc… The whole concept of them has changed, once they where a perogative of someone who’d been in maybe the Navy or Prison, now a female Council worker may have a Butterfly on her ankle. And lets face it, no matter how good a sleeve looks on you when you’re 20 odd and well muscled, it looks well different when you’re in your sixties and muscles are getting flabby!!! As far as lorry drivers go i’d pay no attention to a driver with tattoo’s, Bank Manager or someone in an area of high responsability then i might start to think about him more than take him on face value?

Own up, anyone got any prison tats, you know the blue ink ‘bar-l’ ones.

Ive got one tattoo on my left calf done about 10 years ago. My big mate from the neck down is covered, i mean covered. Drops his trousers and boxers to prove it aswell :open_mouth: he told me when he dies he wants to be flown to japan, apparenlty they take your skin and frame it. How lovely :astonished: Doesn’t have a single tattoo above his neckline though, never asked him why.

don’t have any tats my self ,but a mate that runs for the same company gave his self a lovely Mack tattoo/branded early one morning when he stopped “to drop a load” he dropped his strides and his left cheek made contact with the silencer (mack truck).
I came across him rolling about on the grass in the headlights and believe me some sights you don’t want to see again :open_mouth: :unamused:
He still recons the next 3hrs till he got back to the yard was the longest and most painfull he ever had.

DaiDap:
Got one on my upper left arm and this -

^^^“Chris from London” it says

Is tnuk member Chris (straight eight )from Essex?

I would only get tattoos if I could afford a couple of real quality ones,i love big cats and would love one on each arm [tiger on one leopard on the other]but they would have to be so good they would have to be like they are jumping out at you,and from what I have seen so far nothing comes close[plus I don’t know if I would have the bottle LOL]

Yes he is - not far from me !

No tatts on lower arms but 11 elsewhere including upper arms, back, chest and legs. Also got a pair of eyes on my arse and a pair of red lips lengthwise on my knob. All, certainly the last two, the result of some good ‘run ashores’ whilst a young Marine. Happy Days!
