Wake up and smell the coffee, we live in a capitalist country. Port Talbot is losing a million quid a day, even these 750 job losses won’t be the end of it, I can see it shutting down within 18 months.

No we live a corrupted form of so called ‘post Fordist’ Capitalism which no surprise has more/plenty in common with China’s agenda.
This is the definition of proper ‘Capitalism’ while also showing the ‘results’ of the post Fordist model.
For once carry fast is talking a lot of sense.

Tell that to the 5000 steel workers who’ve lost their jobs since plus all the suppliers who’ve gone to the wall since Thatchers ■■■■■■■ Camoron and his side kick the cocaine kid have been in power
Plus don’t read everything in the papers it’s not always true

I’ll second that

Not surprised, the UK can’t compete on productivity when it comes to the workforce, nor on price. No loss really, why should we tax payers subsidise an industry with just a few thousand employees, they are getting hand outs left right and centre.
Shut the lot. Heavy industry has no place here if it can’t stand on it’s own two feet.
Typical comment for a southerner.

I’m afraid you may be right on this, hopefully not but as someone who has relatives working at Tata in port talbot,I do feel for them but what gets my back up is some of these people who get laid off at big companies like Tata get money from the Welsh assembly to retrain (so I’m lead to believe)I’ve bee made redundant many times working in South Wales but know one has chucked money in my direction to retrain I’ve had to jump in my car and look further afield for work I’ve spent 12 years travelling to reading each week to make a living you go where the work is needs must,
The sad reality as I see it is I see the steel industry dying in South Wales like the mines did if we can produce coal on our own doorsteps instead of importing it (to run these furnaces at Tata) what chances have we got competing with making steel
Tata has no interest in British Steel, they merely brought it to remove competitors. I suspect it’s being propped up by European grants in any case.

There’s nothing left in this country for the youngsters job wise
There’s a million 16 to 25 yr olds who either aren’t in employment or in education
What are you on about? For September to November 2015, the unemployment rate for 16 to 24 year olds was 13.7%, slightly lower than the pre-downturn trough of 13.8% for the 3 months ending February 2008. Between March to May 1992 (when comparable records began) and September to November 2015 the proportion of young people who were in full-time education increased substantially from 26.2% to 44.4%. For people from 16 to 24 there were 628,000 unemployed people (including 212,000 full-time students looking for part-time work).
That is only 400,000 16-24 year olds not in work or education, you were only out by 600,000…
As to the rest, the employment rate (the proportion of people aged from 16 to 64 who were in work) was 74.0%, the highest since comparable records began in 1971.
Oh and last but not least; average weekly earnings for employees in Great Britain increased by 2.0% including bonuses and by 1.9% excluding bonuses compared with a year earlier.

As I said in a earlier post don’t believe everything you read especially in the Murdoch press or the biased BBC
You should try social media you get more truth and facts on there as its not censored
Your spout sounds like a quote from Camoron
Who couldn’t answer a question straight because most what comes out of his mouth is pre scripted bollox
This isn’t you is it by any chance?

By all means don’t let the facts get in the way of a good moan among your comrades on social media.
What facts are those ■■?
This lot don’t even know whose in the country
Let alone to be trusted to quote figures
Your “figures” do they include the thousands who don’t sign on ■■?
Because there’s no jobs for them to do because of Camorons policy of flooding the UK with cheap labour
( funnily enough he’s let more in since the traitorous Blair and Brown did combined)
The so called jobs boom your trying to paint isn’t happening never will
I get made redundant in April along with 800 other people and there’s none of these so called high wage jobs around to replace them
They’ve all gone been sold off or moved abroad
You’ll be lucky to find a minimum wage job and have to top the wages up with tax credits
False economy real just like Camoron and the cocaine kid
The UK Government send £11Billion annually in aid to India, when they own industry here and have much more in their own country. Our so called government need to look after British people instead of supporting India and subsidising China.

Feel free to give us the ‘real’ figures based on a school leaving age of 16 and in which ‘education’ isn’t used as a diversion from the fact that we don’t have the industry to actually employ school leavers for a decent wage.As opposed to them funding their own unemployment with ‘student loans’ which in many cases will never be paid back.
Or for that matter adult unemployment figures that aren’t rigged by ‘sanctions’ that remove those who should be on the register and using a definition of ‘unemployment’ as it applied during the pre Thatcherite/Blairite post Fordist economic system.
IE what is the unemployment rate by the standards of a definition of ‘unemployment’ that means what it says.In which raising the effective school leaving age to 18 let alone mid 20’s doesn’t count as ‘employment’.Or in which arbitrarily ‘removing’ people from the list based on spurious reasons isn’t an option.
