Supporting our poor overworked doctors?

I don’t think BKing really knows what he’s talking about. In fact he comes across as really bitter tbh.

As we’ve already established, a doctor fresh out of uni is poorly paid really, and remember on a night shift they could the responsibility of being the only doctor for ~ 200 or so patients.

These people literally have your life in their hands. Why shouldn’t they be well paid?

.

Just wanted to point out, the dispute is not about salary. It is about hours worked, and patient safety.

And to clear up the misinformation due to govt spin on the ‘weekend effect’ -

-The increase in deaths at the weekend have not been linked to staff resourcing.
-The ‘weekend’ is defined here as Fri-Mon inclusive.
-The NHS operates on a 24/7 emergency care basis as it is.
-Deaths actually peak on a Wednesday.

was chatting to the Mrs about this and she put a bit of a spin on it…
the highest profession that requires NHS services as we/they get old are HGV drivers, due to bad diets, no exercise ect, she runs clinics for amputees and majority are ex drivers.

used to be miners, then steel workers but now ex HGV

How does it seem now that the first line of “upper” workers - ie doctors - is now being rubbished over by our government?

We Transport Operatives got rubbished in the eyes of the public years ago - also thanks to a successful negative campaign against us.

Drivers who want more pay are being greedy always. (No mention that a driver typically works 50-55 hours to get the same pay as the “average salary earner” gets for 35-40 hours)
Drivers who kill people - were always breaking their own hours regulation rules. (No mention that cyclists break rules too, and the most common kind of fatality is more about “I didn’t see them!” rather than “zzzzz”)
Drivers are an essential service to any country’s economy. You wouldn’t think that though, not by the crappy way final-mile delivery drivers in particular get treated.

Now the worm has turned into the Medical profession. We’re led to believe that everything going wrong that kills people in the NHS is “negligent medical staff” or “staff not working hard enough” or even “staff being resistant to sensible changes”.

That’s how our politics dresses it up now.

To Doctors everywhere - Welcome to our world!

Basically because our national press are owned by a select clique which cuts deals with whichever Gov’t is in power.

And what they all do best, is turn us against each other.

What the hell has a “doctor fresh out of uni” got to do with some bloody GP ripping people off by doing private work in NHS facilities and doing it while she is being paid by the NHS to see the people who pay their bloody wages.

And your trying to tell me that this “angel” is on 27 grand a year ?
Pull the other one its got soddin bells on it.
Not only are they ripping of the bloke paying for the medical they are ripping off their NHS patients as well.

Addendum
These poor “overworked” junior doctors are now going to a ballot.
This spat with the government was not about money it was about patient “care” and the safety of the public.
Strange how the government has offered more “money” to our poor stressed “doctors” and now they are willing to “negotiate”
And you think these angels give a crap about you?
Bet they take the money and all will be sweetness and light again.
Hipocrit greedy SOBs

‘‘Strike was about money and hours’’ - don’t those gripes sound familiar. They are lucky they have the option to strike eh.

Funny how they made it clear it wasn’t about the pay yet it was settled with a pay rise LOL

The vast majority of General Practice doctors do not work in “NHS facilities”, nor are they “on NHS time” 9x5. The practice operates as a separate business entity, pays its own way as regards rent etc and employs its own staff. The practice will have contractual obligations to the NHS to provide primary care, but any additional services or face-time they choose to provide will be their own business.

I think bking should stick to the spannering, as he clearly understands SQR(FA) about the operation of the NHS (or indeed GPS satellites).

I just love the leaked BMA emails, the strike was all about pay all along. The doctors briefed the press that the strike was about patient safety, welfare and wellbeing while 99% of the doctors, according to the leaked emails were only concerned about pay.

If you are going to strike about pay, just be honest and don’t hide behind this façade of patient “safety” and the “future” of the NHS.

If you are going to be money grabbing ■■■■■■■■ then just tell us.

What a bloody joke, well done on Jeremy Hunt on pushing through the contract, whatever little bit of sympathy I had is now truly eroded. Can we push it a bit further, I am sure that the nurses can take over some of their responsibilities, maybe we could get them to work 2 weekends a month for a few years.

Payback is biatch.

Tens of thousands of operations cancelled, lives put in jeopardy because you lot are greedy.

Next time just tell us.

Despite protestations that the dispute was about “safety, not pay”, the issue of weekend pay was described late last year by a JDC executive member as “the only real red line” for junior doctors

A vast leak of WhatsApp messages has revealed plans by the leaders of the junior doctors’ dispute to “draw out” the contract battle with the Government and suggested pay - not safety - was at the heart of the row.

Despite protestations that the dispute was about “safety, not pay”, the issue of weekend pay was described late last year by a JDC executive member as “the only real red line” for junior doctors. This point was only finally conceded by the JDC on 7 May when it decided to re-enter negotiations.

Be greedy all you want just don’t jeopardise our safety in the process.

Selfish pr!cks.

Spin it how you like, the issue was pay AND safety…

It was about forcing the government to understand that by paying staff less, trusts would then be able to roster the same staff to work more hours… Trust salary budgets would remain the same. In other words, they would have had the opportunity to squeeze more juice out of the same staff, and this was the SAFETY issue.

If Hunt is such a hero, why has he now conceded to doctor’s demands? And if the doctor’s are being greedy, why have they agreed a CUT to benefits and salary elsewhere to support the increased anti social hours payments…?

Greed doesn’t come into it if they are left with a loss in one area (their sacrifice), with a small gain in another (anti social payments which will help prevent over-rostering of staff - SAFETY)…

The junior doctors were right to stand up for themselves. Are all the truckers on here such a cliché?
