iam a casual, but not on a zero hours one. iam required to do 16 hours a week or more if i would like . absolutely no pressure on what shift . what days i work . some weeks i will do 6 days others 2 . in the summer i might do two days and have 10 days off
basicly i work when i like. and it runs well with another seasonal summer job i have , and it fits in verywell with family life.
I get the first call for next weeks work. if i cant be arsed or i want to go out on the pull / beer i dont work. i get holiday . pension . and the work well trust me this tossco job is so easy ,
bit i like is not being required to do what and when they say . where as all the full timers . who are are on the same hourly rate as me have to do what the say . me if i cant be arsed . i tell them . no pressure what so ever.
i get the same for doing 25 hours and getting a top up from tax credits than me doing 40-60 hrs a week working my little ■■■ off . plus i also get free prescriptions. kids school meals . and kids that know me !!
Lazy really then.
Some people would rather earn their own money than scrounge whatever they can to cost the taxpayers even more…

I’m on a zero hours contract at the moment. It works for us as I can fit around my wifes shifts at the hospital (absolutely no pattern to what days/nights she works) I tell them what days/nights Im available and get given work to fit in.
Im not working for an agency so dont get the agency lies etc etc.
Theres always me or the wife to look after the kids, no childcare costs to pay.
Not eligible for tax credits or other handouts because joint income is in excess of 18k a year.
For some people it can work and is the only way it can work! Dont knock it!
its about family life. some people want a life , know there family, see the family grow,
But some others want to sit behind a steering wheel 6 days a week and not do what i want to do
exactly this, despite the fact that childcare cost are through the roof (can you even get childcare at night?) is it right that your kids are growing up under childcarers supervision and not your own?
Its not being lazy, in the past I’ve done jobs and hours that make most peoples jobs look part time! What ever it takes to keep us afloat.

You need to contact HMRC as with two kids you STILL qualify for “child tax credits” as long as your joint income is below about I think about £28k

thanks, we did look into tax credits a few years ago when my wife was training to be a nurse and money was really tight, thats what they told us then. In fairness our joint income is still in excess of 28k so still not eligible. The 0 hour contract is the only thing that works for our situation at the moment. It keeps me in work when I can. Obviously it wouldnt be for everyone!

that Ian bloke is a wee bit bitter because he lost his job. No loss for the company at a guess. Whine whine whine.
dozy:
Text from mate at Lutterworth on agency, pay rise,£11 up from £10
We’ve now got flexi/casuals on £9.50 p.h,agency on £11 p.h( well at least at Lutterworth they are), then there own drivers on £7.75 p.h,and then they ask how they can raise the morale of the drivers.
Yes I’m "a wee bit bitter"when a company makes you redundant the job is supposed to have gone not true they are using agency,
They took us over saying we would be part of their network team and the make us redundant who had a Minimum of 9 years service carried over
Court dates set early next year
Yes he’s made loads of derogatory posts to me in the past
Read his post slagging me off because I don’t like stobarts and how they treat people ask their latest victims at Arla how they feel about the glorious stobaet group
Love you too Ian. Take it you are on that Facebook page too? God maybe it was you, or on one occasion, your wife who sent me vile messages wishing me and my family all sorts of nasty things because I questioned some of the bile that was directed at stobart drivers during the Doncaster debacle.
Ian, I am sorry you lost your job, but i’m sure you were offered a position which you declined because it didn’t suit. You live in an area with plenty of jobs, move on and move up, because all companies will evidently be better than Stobarts.
Me? I live in an area of few jobs. I chose to go to Stobarts 6 years ago. Yes I have ■■■■ weeks but I have to grin and bare it. But it pays a regular decent wage, better than a lot in this area.
If I was made redundant? Well I would just have to get of my arse and find something different.
