£26 an hour is fantastic, as long as they pay you on time.

The Germans own Hermes and it is highly profitable so I can see why they don’t want to sell.

Those American Amazon tractors are all day cabs by the looks of it, suppose they wouldn’t need to have trampers with all the depots they own.

Still can’t see the point in them doing all their own transport over here though when they’re getting it done pretty cheaply as it is.

If Stobarts can’t make HGV transport pay…

£13 per hour is the agency rate though isn’t it. Dunno what the employed drivers are on but someone was saying today they’ve cut some or all of the add on’s to the basic rate wether that’s BS or not I don’t know but the drivers will be the first to bear the brunt of any cost cutting measures.

They’ll take one look at their books and run a mile…probably more interested in seeing who they have contracts with so they can mop up when Stobrats goes pop

WINCANTON TOOK BRITVIC OFF STOBART AND GAVE IT BACK AFTER 12 MONTHS BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT MAKE IT PAY.

The fellas used to drive these but got promoted to reception duties

Not fellas. Fella. That’s Dozy’s private parking shed :grimacing:

My local ■■■■ shop used the same tactics back in the day.

Used to put some smashers in the window, for like £3!!
[zb] got ya hooked then, so in you’d go and boom your at the £10 a pop shelves.

I got banned for asking if they done gratis tissues, as I’d finished up just by looking at the cases.

Went back week later, got a refund on the £3 one, then bought identical one back for £2 out the used bin.

These firms think their so clever, but us council estate lads grew up knowing how to make our money work proper.

I believe those vehicles got re-liveried as they are and now cruise the highways for waberers

I wonder if Wincanton’s takeover of Stobart’s would more successful than their takeover of P&O Trans European.

Surprised Turners aren’t looking at Stobart having just bought Jack Richards to get into general haulage.

Lack of ingenuity on my behalf, hence I’m now looking to drive a wagon due to my lack of foresight…[emoji38] [emoji38] [emoji38]

Sixties boy:

If anyone’s going to saddle themselves with the green death, that’s the most likely culprit/victim.

£155 million of debt. I mean Wincanton would get a large portion of the contracts Stobarts has if they go under anyway. Along with DHL and the other usual suspects for free and more than likely at a better rate. Interesting times at least.

In today’s finanical mail .
It says wincantons are looking Into stobarts books and accounts with a view to maybe make an offer depening on what the accounts show. They have untill 15th of November to make a descision .
It also notes that Andrew tinkler has announced he will not bidding and has walked away from.any possible deal

Tesco now owns Bidvest Logistics. Should Stobbies go under dont you think Tesco will take the work inhouse through Bidvest. That deal has go e under the radar.

Not yet, they don’t. The sale has been agreed between the companies but requires approval from competition/marketing “watchdogs”, and that will take several months.
