Stobart (Motherwell) - a shameful rate of pay

We pay our drivers £11 per hour for a 45 hour per week , overtime is time in the week and time and half sat and double time for a sunday , this is on a class 2 removal work .porters are on less £9.00 an hour .

It seems Stobbie pays Vehicle Wash Operatives more than drivers :grimacing:

A lot of comments only 3 actual breakdowns of pay! As usual a lot to say but unable to prove their earnings! All waffle and no proof of earnings! As for Nightout money! Yes it’s part of your wage! If you don’t do nights out you don’t get them! Simples

This is my payslip for this week, I don’t have a scanner at the moment so I took a photo of it…

It was for two trips to Dublin plus a day doing Portsmouth Colnbrook and Greenford. It also includes Friday when I had a standby day, which means a day at home on pay so I could get a full weekly rest in to do a Dublin Sunday.

Slip.jpg

The taxable pay figure bottom right doesn’t include the meal allowance or 75% of the night out money and if those 12 weeks repeat for the rest of the year, and they probably will as I am doing pretty much the same work from month to month I am on course to just break £40K for the year.

Easy work, easy money. Even though the meal allowance is a bit crap it’s still over £500 tax free a year which pays for my RFL on the car and a couple of hookers. :stuck_out_tongue:

Nah, he has regular agency lads who will get first shout at any jobs. The work has changed a bit recently and we had a couple of drivers leave, well one left and one was sacked, but he hasn’t replaced them and isn’t intending to.

Never mind, can but ask :grimacing:

I’ve even got myself a little caravan now, just incase I see the right job that’s a bit far away, due to owning my house (mortgage) relocating isn’t a 2 minute thing, but both me and the missus have agreed that we’re willing to and I even applied to that Canada job that was advertised, didn’t get it though, think because I was lacking over the water driving experience

as you seem to be struggling to grasp stobarts pay rates ,ill make it more simple for you
wash/opo doing 50 hrs [mon-thurs/sun] would gross £413.40
driver doing 50 hrs [mon-thurs/sun] would gross £511.20
but im always willing to learn/proved wrong so maybe you can enlighten me as too how you percieve a washer opo earns more than a driver

£782.81 before tax and royalties from a book. Lord Hobnobs is rolling in it! :stuck_out_tongue:

i had the misfortune of having to take my truck into MAN at gateshead yesterday, got shown into the drivers waiting room while they were dealing with the problem on the truck. anyway, in i stroll and say hello to the other driver also waiting in there, he worked for wincantons, we start polite chat and then he starts asking who i work for, do they pay well etc etc, i could see where this was going so i took my phone out to kind of show i wasnt interested in this conversation, but he wasnt giving up, he earns £783 a week, for 45 hours monday to friday, he also says that normally a couple of days of week he only has to come to sign on to his shift and then get sent ome as he is not needed. if he works a sunday he gets £270 and £440 for a bank holiday…then the fitter came and got me, thank god lol

but big boss came in to give general talk on buisness/question time and this was brought up,he wasnt happy :imp: :imp: ,depot boss just tried to stutter a reply out    as to why this was happening, but the poor soul who brought this up got every ■■■■ run going for a couple of months :frowning: :frowning:

we all think were hard done by but when you see other peoples pay slips you realise how lucky you are,to work for a company the take your walefare seriously,by giving you £13.00 a day meal allowance to make sure you eat properly, also lucky in the fact in saving money by driving efficiently not only do the company benifit ,you the driver does as well by getting a bonus every dayfrom the company, just hope one day the likes of coffee can get a job where he gets the rewards he deserves

So Stobby has given his drivers a payrise. Last I read they were on £7.50. Now you’re on 3p per hour more than the VWOs. And a whole 66p on Sunday. Congratulations.

There is the £13 meal allowance. Which on a 13 hour day equates to another pound an hour. If you think you’re skills are only worth £1.03 per hour more than un-skilled labour and are happy with that then that’s fine.

You can only dream of my wage though :grimacing:
