Okay it’s only temporary and times are hard - but talk about taking advantage of the recession. Starting rate - £7.20 an hour! Scandalous!
Here we go again , I bet if most are honest and put all the bull to one side they earn not much more or may be a tad less , I do 5p an hour more drive an 8 year old Foden of which i’ve heard more than once " You would’nt catch me in THAT" but as i’ve said on here before my boss is one in a million , my wife has M/S and on Thursday she rang my boss up saying she was having a real bad day struggling with the simplest things so then I got a phone call of him saying turn around and come home no moaning just home , to me thats worth £20 p/h .
Alright yea more money would be nice but I have a good life so the way I see it is The grass is’nt greener and I don’t chase the £ .
I ar’nt even going to put a tin hat on so slate away because sticks and stones etc…
Try working for JBT the rate is only £7.26 per hour straight through nightshift, and they expect miraclesAgency drivers are better paid starting at £10 p.h.Almost all employees are looking for a move, happy days

i was offered £8 an hour to work in a warehouse on monday
AND
I could probably earn more per hour in the old peoples home around the corner but I don’t want to wipe peoples arses , you can always say I could earn more here and there and every were so if you think the grass is greener ■■■■ of and do it instead of shouting about it on here.
what’s wrong with you lot?
£7.20 to £11.00 per hour. average about £9.00 per hour. that’s £135.00 per day. plus a meal allowance, plus night out money.
being a stubbon git won’t pay the mortgage, or pay for a holiday to sri lanka.
hourly pay for truck drivers should be banned. day rate or mileage rate, get rid of the bone idol tossers.
is that £72 per day, or a 72 hour day. i’ve done some one hitters, but never done a 72 hour day, the most i’ve done is a 42 hour day.
I’ve been driving now for 20 years and have only just found a job in the past 5 that pays well. I feel sorry for the young uns that’re coming into the industry now as they’ve no knowledge of how how enjoyable it was. Driver C P C, what a load of excrement. Wtd, not worth wiping yer other face on. As for other road users who see you as some sort of homegrown taliban!
same as, been driving for nearly 18 years now & finally settled down into a good job with reasonably good money , but like most we like to be paid what we’re worth , unfortunately many new guys have been rushed through hgv courses & other than the driving they know very little.
Couldn’t believe how little of even the basic tacho rules a another newish driver on my firm knew. they way he was going he’d be having 4.5 hours rest every 45mins driving , so maybe the bigger employers are paying the right wage for the caliber of driver they’re getting

im still a professional driver until the end of the year so i have as much right to shout about the wages here as you have but then again, i am not complaining about the rate of pay that i currently earn. on average i think i am paid reasonably well but overall i think we should all be on a higher rate for what we do. that isnt going to happen anytime soon but £7.20 is an insult to any HGV driver

at one time people wanted to become truck drivers, they knew what was what from the age of six.
but now, it’s a case of people at a lose end thinking “errrrrr, i can drive a truck, suppose, errrrrr”.

I was chatting to one of their nightshift drivers in cheesypeek Hamilton and his shift that night was 12 midnight start, Bathgate - Hamilton to load - Inverness - Bathgate. NO THANKS
Limeyphil, youre out on your own there mate about the hourly pay.
I prefer to be paid by the hour,i know what i’m going to pick up and if i do more hours i know i’m going to get paid for doing them, not like on a day rate where gaffers expect max hours out of you for the same rate of pay, which i think is rubbish.
By the way i work for Stobarts and i’ve walked away with £560 this weekand considering theres a bit of a slowdown,my pay hasnt really altered and i for one am thankful for that to be honest as there a lot of people on here who would just like a job.
Now we’ve got all Unilevers ambient work as well,i’d say Stobarts will ride out the this economic slowdown quite well and i’m glad about that,i couldn’t give a tuppeny toss what people think of me because i work for Stobarts.

scanny 77 is bang on with his view to ask a man to work for 7.20 an hour is a disgrace were so called professional drivers with a lot more reponsibilty than a kid working in McD/kfc who gets paid more than 7.20, does any of the stobart mgrs read through these forums? wondering why they probely cannot get good drivers it makes my blood boil when i see there adverts for drivers"we offer a competive rate of pay)
Try Pollock Scot trans or MRS - they dream of £7.20 o/t rate !!!
yea your take home is less than £280 a week with them. its a joke.
though tbh id take the stobbies job in m/well just to get some experience but its a bit far away for the rubbish rate.
granted i get paid well these days, never on less than £8 an hour, did a shift this morning at royal mails branch direct in edinburgh, 6 drops, 4 hours work. get paid for 8 at £12 an hour all for driving a van. cant complain there though i would prefer to be in an artic.
