If you think £7.20 & £11 is bad

Try Pollock Scot trans or MRS - they dream of £7.20 o/t rate !!!

yea your take home is less than £280 a week with them. its a joke.

though tbh id take the stobbies job in m/well just to get some experience but its a bit far away for the rubbish rate.
granted i get paid well these days, never on less than £8 an hour, did a shift this morning at royal mails branch direct in edinburgh, 6 drops, 4 hours work. get paid for 8 at £12 an hour all for driving a van. cant complain there though i would prefer to be in an artic.

Where are you getting £280 take home from?

What rate were those firemen on who got caught working over their hours

for pollock, you only get like 320 a week. so after tax etc its gonna be like 280 a week which is pants.

and john i was back in bed by 8am so really i wasnt fussed about being up at half 2 to go to work for half 3 lol.

LGV Driver (C+E) - 1 - 40 hrs a week
£7.20 to £11.00

Applicants must have LGV C+E driving licence, 6 points maximum and digital tachograph essential. Duties include driving vehicles from depot to loading/unloading point. Assists with loading/unloading and ensures that load is evenly distributed and safely secured. Drives vehicle to destination in accordance with schedule. Temporary positions up to Christmas but may be ongoing. No exact dates are known

Okay it’s only temporary and times are hard - but talk about taking advantage of the recession. Starting rate - £7.20 an hour! Scandalous!

:imp: :imp:

the rate is the same in england for casual drivers but they get a tax free meal allowance plus your night out, meal allowance is 12.50 per day, i have flt and lgv licenses and not to proud to work to feed my family. in the grand scale of things hourly rates have fallen across the board and my view is when you live in an overcrowded country there are alot more people to undercut you, also the vast ammount of overseas labour must of had an effect on the economy, but 7.20 is what it is you either except it and apply or dont, after being made redundant for being pro union and rights for working class it changed my views and really have to except you have to be self sufficent and get what you can, if that means working for 7.20 well personally i will make that choice…until summit better comes along.

Well from March 2010 steveo,Stobarts take the lot over.

what’s wrong with you lot?
£7.20 to £11.00 per hour. average about £9.00 per hour. that’s £135.00 per day. plus a meal allowance, plus night out money.

being a stubbon git won’t pay the mortgage, or pay for a holiday to sri lanka.

hourly pay for truck drivers should be banned. day rate or mileage rate, get rid of the bone idol tossers.

unless im wrong phil the rates there refering too are
7.20 mon -fri, 6 a.m-6 p.m

11.oo sat 3 p.m to sun 6 a.m.
it would be lovely to mix and match them , but not so sure theyd be so keen to pay it      .
p.s i hear theres a vacancy in the wages dept , ill put your name foward

Its a job.

I work for Stobart out of Middleditch in Cheshire.

£7.20 between 6AM & 6PM £8.10 6PM to 6AM. More at weekends.

On top of that you get £12.50 meal allowance per shift, tax free.

Previously I was working for James irlam getting £9.10 per hour on nights (straight through even though I start @ 14:00)

A typical 60 hour week under the Stobart contract compared to my on paper higher paid Irlam one actually leaves me about £30 per week better off.

we get just under £12 an hour for class 2 work. I’m happy enough with that.

Like most workers in Britain we’ll moan about the wages and do nothing about it. So they will just keep walking all over the top of us.

scanny77:
i was offered £8 an hour to work in a warehouse on monday :exclamation:

i was talking to a stobart warehouse lad today, loads, unloads, pick etc,
according to him his rate is 6.98 p.h[at first i was suprised as not far behind drivers 7.20 p.h],but thats your lot, mon -sun[no extra for w/ends,straight 6.98 p.h,3 on/3 off
so is your £8 all hours or do you get extra for w/ends

But we also get allowances on top of the £8.40 ph, so it’s not as bad as you make out…

£7.20 p/h is about right for Scotland is it not?

if ye work for a cowboy or tipper company.

most of the RDCs within the Motherwell area are paying between £9 and £11 and hour .

Im in the Motherwell area on £10 that rises to £11.36 between 1800 and 0600 .

£7.25… its just typical stobart pay rates .

my local chippie was looking for a fish fryer paying £8 ph .

i would fry fish or stock shelves in asda before i would work for a stobart type mob.

Right so would 5 hours a day at £8 pay your bills , wake up what were saying its the fact that theres plenty of overtime to make it pay and as for all those rattling on about earning £10 plus your lucky but just so in the minority.

Hour pay is the only way to go because on mileage as they say when the wheels ar’nt turning you ar’nt earning plus on percentage 20% of f all is f all

we’re not lucky , but we’re in the minority because we dont bomb about at 56mph on a 40mph road and perform all the other party tricks that the £7ph/mileage brigade get up to.

I have said it on here umpteen times …lorry drivers are their own worst enemies .
