Stobart Appleton

74 hrs , why would anyone be happy/willing to do this amount. I did 60 this week, that’s most I’ve done in a long time was knackered that’s with at least 3 hrs chilling watching TV everyday. Maybe I’ve been spoiled & this amount of hrs is the norm

Thats a insult ,look at the pay for weekends :open_mouth: ,ffs :unamused:

It won’t be an insult when you go on agency or an ‘FTE’ earning 1.5x+/hour… Do you want them to use Vaseline or not when they pull your pants down?

Driver standard bonus £5 day
Night out £22.50

If you don’t moan at your planner all the time like some drivers then they’ll just leave you alone, I don’t talk to mine until I get back the yard at the end of the week most weeks.

No disrespect but my daughter is on the same for serving on the pizza counter at Morissons…

We did this with burger flippers ,shelf stackers ,there were a few ( majority ) who claimed they earnt the same as a stobard driver ,but they don’t ,there’s no way they do 70/80 hrs most weeks ,do nights out ,get fuel bonuses etc ,yes she may well get the same hourly rate ,but I doubt she gets the same in her wage packet atethe end of the week .
Last week I did 74 hrs ,top line of £813 ,take home £613 ,are you seriously telling me your daughter earnt that on the pizza counter at morrisons ,if she did can you see if she can get me a application form .ta

That’s a bit of a pointless argument,if said person is on the same amount per hour then she IS on the same wage as you,the fact that you do more hours is irrelevant.

Anyone doing anything anywhere for the hours you did would earn more than you did, they would be on time and a half, did you not ask your daughter if she work two weeks hours in one week what she would take home, more then you ever would 600 for 74 hours god help us this guy thinks he is on to a good thing, no wonder there is not a ■■■■■■■ hope for anyone looking to get into this work when you have fools like this

Of course it’s not a pointless argument ,if it was the case she earnt the same as me we would see loads of scruffy truck drivers stood there making pizzas not young lasses or married women ,but they don’t earn the same ,burger flippers don’t ,shelf stackers don’t ,most of them do par time hours ,20-30 hrs ,they don’t get meal allowances ,they don’t get f/b ,they don’t get night out money ,there hundreds of pounds shy of us at the end of the week .

What a silly reply…I said she is on more money, and she IS on more money pro-rata, not more hours…Mathematics obviously isn’t your forte…

Maths isn’t my forte ,but walking into the morrisons in grantham and asking the manager bloke who was stood there is ,I asked him what do they earn on your pizza, meat ,cake counters ,he looked a bit  ,so I made it easy for him and said do they earn £800 in a week ,he said he didn’t earn that ( he was a young kid so maybe not store manager ) ,so there you go ,from the horses mouth ,he doesn’t earn that so what chance is the young las on the pizza counter earning more :unamused: .
Actually I don’t know why I’m bothering with this ,having too ■■■■ about going into morrisons too find out what I already know,it just ridiculous ,are you seriously telling me she earns 40k making pizzas at morrisons

The Stobarts basic is absolutely ■■■■ poor and I don’t even think their own die hards would argue against that but when you ad in the tax free meal allowance, fuel bonus etc it adds up to probably average wages.

It’s when you go on holiday and all you’re getting is that crappy basic then that’s when your pocket feels it.

You get a enhancement of £14 per day when on holiday ,so as the meal allowance is £15, fuel bonus £5 so you’re only £6 per day worse off or £30 per week
There doing away with the f/b and putting 43p onto the hourly rate ,so new rate will be £8.38 p.h ,so your hourly rate on holiday will be £9.78 p.h x 50 hrs guaranteed is apx £700 p.w ( not best as maths so maybe a few pence out ) .
The real catch with holidays is you can’t do 70/80 hrs or a 0/t shift ( though some do the odd agency shift while off  )

Nothing fuels are good argument for truckers than wage comparison and Stobarts drivers. Throw them both together and you really have an interesting read haha.

I don’t think the wages quoted above are quite right now either. Sure they have just changed as of this month. Think the contract is based on 45 hours now too. Not that you’ll ever do that but it saves them about £170 for every week you take off.

I have an interview at Widnes Tesco tomorrow after passing at their academy a couple weeks ago. I’ll give some more info tomorrow if anyones actually arsed now?

My opinion is they are a pretty good place to start driving. Some good perks; very good pension, free uniform (about £300 worth when you start). The tax free allowances you get equate to about £6k per year if they were salaried. That tops up what you earn to a “decent” wage. And I know I’ll be driving a Scania which is a year old max.

You actually walked into a supermarket as a result of this thread and asked the manager what the counter people earn selling Cornish pasties. This is quality. I’m certain this is something Alan Partridge would do. Did you buy anything or just walk out nodding knowingly to yourself speaking aloud “this evidence will sort the men from the boys trucknet”?

Not getting this are we dozy, let me explain.
If lorry driver A earns £100 per hour and lorry driver B earns £1 per hour,lorry driver a works 1 hour a week,lorry driver B works 101hrs a week.
Lorry driver A earns £100
Lorry driver B earns £101
This does not mean lorry driver B is on more money than lorry driver A,can you see how this works?
Please say yes.

how many hours do eddies do on POA, sounds a bit dodgy , ask the old tesco drivers about the wages , I think they all lost out big style when the man in green took over, anyway tescos are closing a lot of stores so why does eddie need more drivers Tesco is the biggest job he has ?

No I don’t see it at all
Bobs daughter works on pizza counter and does 40 hrs ( very unlikely as most are part time ) but will give her the benifit of the doubt
She’s on more , let’s say £8 p.h even though I doubt a ■■■■■■■ the pizza counter would get that = £8 x 40 = £320 p.w ( again I have my doubts she’s on that but we will still use it )
Dozy the stobard driver also does 40 hrs at a rate of £7.95 ( now your thinking she’s on more aren’t you  ) but your wrong as dozy contract States he’s guaranteed 50 hrs p.w ,so dozy gets £7.95 p.h x 50 =397.50 :exclamation: :exclamation: :exclamation: ,so I’ve done exactly the same hours as bobs daughter but I’ve earnt £77.50 more ,then you add the £75 meal allowance on top of that ,the £25 fuel bonus on top of that and then there’s the extra for working later and your hundreds of pounds better off than bobs daughter …

Well as I always say on here about jobs ,get it from the horses mouth ( drivers ) ,Bob said his daughter earns more than £800 so I went in and asked ,chap seemed a bit taken aback but just said he doesn’t earn that .
No I just walked out thinking what a wasted journey ,just been told what I alreadt knew ,a girl working on pizza counter / deli /cake doesn’t earn more .
I asked cashier woman in sainsburys this morning what she earnt ,ignorant old bat told me too mind my own buisness :unamused: :unamused:

Ahaa!

So you read this thread. So enthused you visited a supermarket to ask the manager a question you already knew that the girls in hairnets who sell hot chickens don’t earn 50k a year. :grimacing: Then. Ha, let me get this straight - Sorry I’m in a little bit of discomfort down my side and wee threatening to escape from the joy - you asked again. At a different supermarket. And are starting to get annoyed at the responses?! Ha ha ha ha!!! Dozy. I think you’re ace. You’re a legend. Do have an agent?

Man I love trucknet :grimacing:

Dozy speaketh the truth. I was at soapy Joes getting the ethnics to wash my car at the weekend when I popped into Morrisons, the manager was looking very flustered and was being cared for by the security guards, straight away I suspected that Dozy had been at the root of it all.

Dozy,
how often on your 50hr Stobart weekly contract do you actually only work said 40hrs!!![emoji15]
