It’s all so complicated… strictly speaking, “I took some photo’s of the loco’s” ought to be grammatically correct.
I think it would be correct as follows…loco’‘’‘’‘s and photo’‘’''s,
one apostrophe for each letter missing.
A bit like potato’s and tomato’s, the apostrophe is not there to
replace the missing e, it’s just an error.
English grammar is a pedant’s paradise and an english language student’s
nightmare.
