Iām wish not too assume one may be of the āsnowflakeā generation, but I must insist that should we meet in said lift, I would hope that in the best interests of sporting masculinity one may reconsider his apprehension and embrace the encounter in its fullest form.

I wish not too waste what may be a beautiful encounter soley to the fact of a little chaffing that may be caused.
If I may Iād suggest one may wish to ābe preparedā for all eventuality, as all good professionals should be, and to have his own brand of lubrication at hand to ensure neither parties involved in this encounter have a wasted trip.
Welsh haulier Mansel Davies has pleaded guilty to 19 counts of forgery and counterfeiting maintenance documents for HGVs.
Additional charges against MD Stephen Mansel Davies have been dropped.
The case, heard at Swansea Crown Court last month, relates to charges that were brought against Stephen Mansel Davies and employee Jonathan Wyn Phillips at a hearing in June.
Mansel Davies was accused of 19 offences of making false periodic maintenance inspection sheets for vehicles between 1 October 2017 and 14 February 2018. Phillips, of Mynachlogddu, faced 34 similar allegations.
Prosecuting barrister Lee Reynolds said that an investigation into the records of Mansel Davies was triggered after one of its vehicles was stopped by a DVSA enforcement officer.
At Swansea Crown Court, Phillips pleaded not guilty to all charges. He was granted unconditional bail and will stand trial in January 2020.

However you decide your safety inspection intervals ā mileage, time-based or a mix of both ā you must not exceed them. We recommend that an International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) week planning system is used to allow some flexibility when you plan safety inspections. With this system, you should complete the safety inspection within the relevant ISO week it falls. Guide to maintaining roadworthiness. DVSA.
Not every vehicle needs a rigid 6 week inspection, it seems like they have said they were inspected but werenāt, if they had said they were not inspected it wouldnāt have been a problem.
A stand trailer maybe only does 100 miles in 6 weeks, a tanker used for collecting Beaujolais Nouveau, it doesnt need inspecting a week after its annual test or every 6 weeks, the 8 wheel muckaway tipper probably needs looking at every 4 weeks. It seems that they have signed their own warrant here. If they had written missed inspection, there would be no case to answer
Pembrokeshire haulier Mansel Davies and Son has been hit with a £380,000 fine with £120,000 costs for forging lorry maintenance records.
The company, based in Llanfrynach, received the fine at Swansea Crown Court today (Tuesday 11 February) after pleading guilty to 19 offences of forgery and counterfeiting maintenance records from October to December 2017 at an earlier hearing.
Jonathan Phillips, 28 of Mynachlog-ddu, who was an administrative assistant at the company, was also given a nine-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and has been ordered to pay £1,500 costs after pleading guilty to forging maintenance records.
The sentencing follows an investigation by the DVSA which found the company was forging its lorry maintenance records to suggest it was carrying out its regular full vehicle examinations to meet the requirements of its operator licence.
A handwriting expert identified that one person within the company was writing the false records.
The DVSAās head of national enforcement, Caroline Hicks said, āDVSAās priority is to protect everyone from unsafe drivers and vehicles.
āThis large company forged safety documents to deliberately avoid regular maintenance checks on their vehicles. This put the public and their employees at risk.
āWe always pursue operators and push for the toughest penalties where thereās evidence they are cutting corners at the expense of road safety.ā

How many drivers Cars would pass a 6 weekly inspection without fault.
So the fitter just ticked a few inspections thro, without seeing said truck, he would know itās condition, so what, I would think lots of fitters do the same.
So you know we have drivers out there who have no idea of the true condition of their vehicles.
.
And we have fitter who doesnāt sit in the passenger seat, as the Muppet driver bounces it over kerbs and may not look at the tyres from one month til the next.
.
How can a fitter possibly know the condition of a vehicle he hasnāt seen for weeks?
.
If itās gonna be ok after 6 weeks, it should, by the same logic, be ok after the next six weeks shouldnāt it? So, since we can go 3months with no problems, why not 6mths?
.
A good fitter will know which drivers look after the motor and which abuse it, your large blue ā ā ā Lego firm, who hot seat maybe not, but a one driver truck firm will.
Exactly that. I blew a scania gearbox to bits hauling for a small firm. The fitter said i mustve been driving it like a racing car. I said yes. He didnt tell the boss. Got repaired i was back on road. I decided the to start changing gears a bit earlier as not to rouse suspicion to my eratic driving. Although boss was happy i could churn some more work out in same hours than the other 4 drivers. So the bill was paid in effort.

Oh dear, why would you want to drive a scania truck and change gear like in a racing car? Sounds like the actions of a dopey boyracer. Event then you obviously couldnāt do it very well as you blew the gearbox up.
Get on a track with proper racers and you would be left behind in their wheel tracks, thatās if you made it round the first corner.
The office junior was left to carry the can, the Judge said no doubt he was obeying orders, but charges against the boss dropped, and no action taken against his supervisor. Welcome to Wales!
The old TC in Wales always complained that there was no enforcement because VOSA were too busy doing tests at ATFs, and many of the people appearing before him had no idea who he was, and got all upset when he explained that he had the power to take their LGV or O licence off them. For much of his time, he was also TC for West Midlands, and didnāt even have an office in Wales.
The new TC will no doubt be looking to stamp some authority on the territory. I suspect that feathers will fly at the PI, unless the company can demonstrate that it has purged the office of those responsibleā¦and the list will go much further than junior.
the company also runs a Volvo Truck franchiseā¦I expect there will be some questions asked of them by Volvo, too.
listening to any comment by volvo will be the least of his worries.
volvo will still want to sell trucks to anyone.
some of the mobs over here got told any electronic gearbox claims wouldnt be accepted to to normal practice of magnets and such but apart from that they all want to sell trucks.
The question is whether Volvo will want to let this company still run its franchised workshop in the area, when it had a truck of its own on the road with a broken shock absorber, and the emissions and ABS lamps on, and fake PMI records.
Volvo dealersā workshops have to report all MoT failures on vehicles they have prepared for test to head office, and questions get asked so Volvoās view of this is going to be quite serious, I would think.

Thereās that many rumours flying about in West Wales regarding this but I guess thatās to be expected.
The best I heard was unsurprisingly from a DCPC trainer saying that DVSA had to bring in investigators from over the bridge so as to āguaranteeā an impartial investigation.
Thereās a fair few people think that the fine whilst fair, the sentence handed out is misplaced so to speak.

Well hereās the end resultā¦
Mansel Davies & Son (MDSL) has had its license revoked after a director ordered a junior member of staff to falsify maintenance records in a ādisgracefulā act to cover-up an absence of vehicle safety checks.
The falsified records were discovered as part of a DVSA investigation in 2018, which discovered that the Pembrokeshire firm had falsified up to as many as 30 preventative maintenance inspection (PMI) records, as well as creating 15 records purportedly showing that vehicles were off the road (VOR) and therefore not requiring PMIs.
In reality, the vehicles were being operated on days during the supposed VOR period and therefore would have required PMIs.
At a Caernarfon public inquiry, TC Nick Denton said there was evidence that the falsification of records stretched back to 2015 and that the practice of sending vehicles out of the workshop with incomplete PMIs continued well into 2018.
The TC said directors David Davies and his son Stephen āpresided over a toxic maintenance culture at MDSL.
āThe culture was wholly at odds with the preventative maintenance philosophy. It was not a temporary aberration but of long duration.ā
In a written decision following the PI on 24 and 25 November, TC Denton said no one at director level took responsibility for the companyās dishonesty and instead resigned from their positions just days before the hearing and did not attend.
He was particularly critical that they ordered a junior employee to falsify maintenance documents and then left him to face a prison sentence while failing to take responsibility themselves.
A NORTH Pembrokeshire haulage firm that āput its employees and other road users in dangerā has had its licence revoked for forging vehicle maintenance records.
A public inquiry was held after the Llanfyrnach firm Mansel Davies & Son Ltd pleaded guilty to 19 counts of forgery and counterfeiting maintenance documents for goods vehicles back in September 2019.
In a written report by Nicholas Denton, the traffic commissioner, he described the company as āirredeemably taintedā by its conduct in failing to carry out preventative maintenance on its fleet of lorries.
The traffic commissioner said he considered the companyās maintenance malpractice to far outweigh more recent improvements and the āintroduction of new, more capable and more ethical directorsā.
Mr Denton said he āfirmly believesā the company - which employs around 300 people - deserves to go out of business.
Recording a decision, the traffic commissioner revoked the companyās operating licence with effect from February 1, 2021.

I canāt see from any of the details where the new āmore ethical directorsā are. They all seem to be part of the same family, so surely thereās no way they could expect the TC to allow them to keep it going.
Be interesting to see if itās going into admin or if thereās anyone who can still sell off the assets. With the current ethics of the former directors, I would be getting the hell out of there ASAP and not wait for redundancy.
Dont want to be there if it does like Canute at Christmas 2018.
